I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHY I CANT FIND ALUMINUN VALVE COVERS
WITH THE SAME AMOUNT OF HOLES TO MATCH MY STOCK COVERS.
ALL THE COVERS I CHECKED ONLY HAVE ONE HOLE IN EACH COVER.
I HAVE FOUND SOME STEEL COVERS WITH THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF HOLES,BUT I WILL STILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM.OIL LEAKS FROM THE VALVE COVERS.HELLLLLP
THANKS
JOE

Hi GotDucks, What holes are you talking about? If your talking about the oil filler hole and the P.C.V. hole ,then what else do you need ? You may have to drill your own hole. I really need more information to help you. Like Make,Model,Year,Engine,Etc. Happy to Help, HonestFrank

The air breater tube you speak of uses the vacuum created by the pcv into your valve cover to pull any fumes off the top of your carb. or air horn. Really not important, but if you must have it you will have to drill this hole. I guess you could put a Tee in your pcv valve hose and run your air cleaner hose off it. Hope this helps. Frank

I disagree, the p.c.v.valve is the suction and the "air breather tube" is the main air inlet for the p.c.v. system to function properly! it was ducted into the air cleaner in the sixties to comply with air pollution regulations!! Remember that the early flatheads(and even smallblock chevys) that had a tube from the engine valley that went down the back of the block and always had oil fumes? since you are obviously running the stock air cleaner, you must retain the tube, or you have to plug the hole in the air cleaner (if it is in the inside of the air filter)and then you can put a "BREATHER" in the air BREATHER tube hole, that you can pull out every 3,000 mi. to dump oil down during your oil changes! Remember, the internal combustion engine is nothing but a caustic air pump, and to maintain a clean engine, you must promote air flow in and out of the top end. I can't tell you haw many guys run early valve covers on a late engine with no P.c.v.system, and then wonder why the engine leaks like a sieve!! They have a sealed pressure cooker!!

I may have misunderstood. By air beather tube i was thinking about a small maybe 1/2" tube comimg off the top of carb neck or air cleaner to pull fumes from the carb. Your right the valve covers need 3 holes. Sorry about that,so you either have to drill a hole or there should be a knock-out. Frank

Joe, Most aftermarket aluminum valve covers have knockouts for additional holes. Look on the inside and see if you can see these. There are usually baffles included with the covers to use under these holes or sometimes baffled grommets are included.
