Went to Des M., great, great time, my 19 year old nephew, future streetrodder, took 13 (count 'em) 13 rolls of film, I'll be getting some of those pictures and hope to post them here(if I can figure out how). I sent him 50 bucks to help on developing. Weather was great (Hot but no rain). Hey '40, talked to your friend with the highboy at the show, he was parked right across from us, hope all is OK at home.
I had lunch with a streetrod buddy today who said he went to a swap meet in Sedalia Mo. this last weekend,he bought me a running 348 with a 2 barrel on it for 350 bucks, 1959. He knew I was looking for one for either my wifes 58 Yeoman, or the 58 Brookwood 4Dr wagon I've got. Question is, what ( if any ) price range is there on 348/409s bone stock engines is there? I know, accessories are always the key and are scarce these days, but apparently, this is as plain jane as it gets. Did I say OK to quickly? Hope to see it when it shows up on the Roadway truck Wednesday. This may be another lucky deal, or another hard lesson learned, Lord knows I've had enough of those. Any comments guys and gals?
By the way, hotrodladycrusr, thanks for setting my wife and I up with your extra room you had in Louisville!

Hi lance,Too bad I missed Des Moines,My Mom was very ill and just knew by her side is where I needed to be.She passed on Saturday evening and, although I haven't missed the Des Moine event for many, many years,I'm very thankfull I was able to be there for her during her last few hours on earth!Look forward to attending next year, but am sure I will always associate that event with the loss of my Mom.Look forward to seeing you in Lincoln under much cheerier circumstances at Americruise!! See Ya!!

Humm--- I don't remember a passenger 348 with a two barrel carb. All the ones I remember had a Carter WCFB or Rochester 4GC four barrel on it. Maybe it came off a truck (?). Any good running engine is worth $350. Good luck!

I'm sorry about your mom, Daryle, you were fortunate to be with her. See you in Lincoln.
On the 348, I think they did say it came out of a truck, Dan, and the local auto parts store here said that most rebuild parts were still available. I've got a numbers book to look up the engine and verify what it really is. We'll see tomarrow. couper
