Is there a min. amount that the yoak should go into the transmission. I'm running a 350 turbo in the Stude. The yoak goes in 2,1/2 Inches and has 1,1/2 out. It looks like the yoak was originaly in 1/2" further when it was in the nova. Is this close enough? I'd hate to buy a drive shaft if I don't have to. Thanks!

I use 60% for a magic number for driveshaft insertion. That has always worked for me and recommended by Inland Empire Driveline Service....an online supplier of differing driveline parts. If your yoke is real sloppy and worn for one reason or another....you may need more....whereas it will resonate during accelleration and deceleration.
Your's figures to be at 5/8ths...or 62.5%. That's okay if the rearend travel doesn't stretch it out any more.
If you have big tires, big horsepower, big car and like lots of tire spinning I like to put as much yoke in with only 1/2 inch of play at the maximum desertion measurement. This assures that splines don't get damaged.

sounds like mine. I have about 1 to 1 1/2 showing on the yoke with no problem with the 454 even when I jump on it.

if that 350 trans yoke is real sloppy side to side, you may need a new bushing in the end of the tail shaft. if trans is rebuilt they probably installed one.....a worn one can cause a rumble noise and vibration...... tom
