I'm not sure what V6 you have in mind but my choice is the 60degree 3.4 used in the Camero. Full multiport FI and the transmission of your choice. This engine revs like hell with ~180rwhp. They are cheap too. I bought one out of Florida for like $800 to my door, had 30K and the bottom end looked like new. Buy the eng/trans in one piece, get the harness and computer.
If you have never done an engine swap but have the skills and tools..no problem. Mounts are available, hang it in the hole and work it down. Make sure the trans output shaft is parallel to the rear end pinion shaft. Go for it!

Is this a rear engined car with the trans and engine joined at the hip? Years ago I was heavily into VW's and the big engine swap was putting a Mazda rotary into a bug! Loads of fun what with the weight to power ratio! Had to have a HD transaxel built but it revved faster than you could go thru the lower gears... If you get the v6 installed, you might find a VW type that would help you recoup some of the monies spent in the swap. Good luck with it. The v6 only makes about half or less of the heat generated by the rotary so the radiator should be fine.
