Hiboy cycle fenders

I know, real rods don't have fenders..ok but the State requires them.
Anyway looking for a source for fiberglass (light) or steel cycle fenders for the front of my '32 Hiboy. Searched the net to no avail. I can make the brackets but would be neat to see some samples of them too.

Check out your local trailer sales or trailer builder.

I bought some small trailer fenders for my truck but found them to be so heavy The brackets would be way too thick and cumbersome. So, I used the steel fenders as molds to lay up some glass fenders using Epozy resin. I layed up the fenders on the OUTSIDE of the steel fender so the inside would be smoothe and finished and then finished the outside with body filler, much like Ed Roth did with most of his cars. That way I had a fender slightly larger than the trailer fender and the inside was already shiney and smooth... something I probably wouldn't have bothered finishing if it was the rough side.
I only put them on when it rains... it's been about three years since that happened in So. Cal. ...

For My Model A, I recently aquired a '36 Ford spare tire cover band that's going to get cut in half for the front fenders.

I keep a pair for the front only for emergencies. (new state laws somday!) Found them at a local trailer supply house and they were inexpensive and fairly light weight for steel. Maybe the motorcycle wrecking yards have some of the older rear fenders that might work after a bit of hole filling. Mounting is a hit and miss propasition. On an older car that I had (years ago!) At certain speeds the fenders oscillated causing one break to occur so heavy support may be a necessity. Fred P

I have the outer ring from a spare tire cover from the back of those convertion vans. I'm saving it for a fan shroud but I bet it would make a nice pair of light weight fenders, and they're stainless too! Dave
