Missing VIN plate

I have a friend who has owned a 37 Chevy sedan for 15 years. He has had it registered in N.M. all this time. He has recently moved to Oklahoma and while attempting to register it he was told that he couldnt because the VIN # plate was missing. Is there anyone who reproduces these plates to factory original appearance?

Here in California, they will seldom accept an older cars "Vin Plate" because a lot of them were mearly screwed on. The Frame should have a legal Vin stamped on it.
My 40 GMC has it on the right front fame horn, so they aren't necessarily on the left frame top above the axle, but most are...
Unless it's been "clipped" then it doesn't have a number anymore....

It seems like I saw one at Dick Moffitt's Restoration Parts booth at a show. They specialize in '28-'72 Chevy parts. I don't think they have a website & their Phone # is 937-325-7861

Larry's engravery shop in St. John Ill made me an ID plate to put on my firewall. Since I didn't have a plate I had one made and riveted it in place. Their # is 219-365-2119 (I think the ad was in the back of Street Rodder) They charged about 12 bucks for a plate that had a VIN,year and maufacturer.

I recently discovered a number plate on my 34 Plymouth that I never realized was there before. It was in the passenger door jam. As far as reproduction plates, have you scanned the adds in the back of StreetRodder or Rod & Custom? I am sure I saw something in one of those.

Good Luck
