K.C.is about a 4 1/2 hour drive for me.Can you recomend a good hotel/motel near the Speedway??Never to early to reserve a room!!I noticed in the last Gazette that they have a few dates listed but none for Des Moines, hope the K.C. show will not replace it!!Keep us posted!! Good morn' 40'. A couple buddies have been to the new track and love it. There's alot to do around K.C., I think it'll be a blast! I'm sure hotel info. will be available before long. I may try to book a couple rooms before the end of the month. ( hey K.C.Tom, what do you think?)
By the way, the Des Moines show is July 5,6,7 according to my Nov. 2001 Gazzette

Hi Lance,Glad to hear Des Moines is still a Go!! Not a very big show but always one of my favorites!!With K.C. being almost in the middle of the country and with the beautifull weather in October,I think this would be the perfect spot for the 1st Anual SRS Reunion. What do you think!!See Ya!!

Since Kansas speedway just opened up this year, there's no hotels, food close by. ( like just across the street) but next year there will be.
My guess on host hotel would be the American Inn (913-299-2999)it's 10 minutes away from the speedway on I70
The speedway is at I70 and 435.
The Hampton Inn ( 913-248-1900)is just off 435 and 10 miles away. They have a nice restaurant in walking distance called Barley's Brewhaus, they have 99 differant kinds of beer.( oh ya and the food is good too)
I'll drive the area this weekend and make a list of hotels.
Couper, there's not to much going on downtown. but I70 will take you through downtown. The Plaza is busy but parking is tuff.
Daryle, If everybody wants the frist annual SRS reunion i can try to book a area in Barley's
I'll post more this weekend after i cruz the area.

For the guys that want to try to get rooms now for Good-guys. There's these hotels that are with in 12 minutes of the speedway.
American Inn
I70 and 78th st 10 minutes away
913-299-2999
Comfort Inn one person 69.00 two person 75.00 and up
234 n 78th 10 minutes
913-299-5555
Hampton Inn
16555 Midland dr 12 minutes
913-248-1908
Mictotel (new) will open first of the year 2002
I70 and 78th st 10 minutes
913-541-2690
I'd be quessing on which one would be the host hotel. But American Inn is the biggest. As soon as i find out something on the host hotel i'll post it.
As far as restaurants there's all different types within the 10 mile range.
If you want at the host hotel i'd wait until I/or we or who ever finds out which one it is.

Cruzr, looks like you did some 'Cruzin' this weekend huh? Thanks for the hotel info. I have'nt booked yet like I said I was, BUT I DID find me another Chevy yeoman 2 door wagon. It's cancered out pretty bad, but has a bunch of parts I can use for my other one. Problem is, I also bought 3 more 58's from the same guy, (2 more 2 dr posts, and a 4 dr) WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH ME? NOW I"VE GOT (6) 58's AND NOT A DAMN ONE RUNS! I'm sick...... I've got to be.... Kristy brow beat me half to death last night when I told her.

Lance, sounds like you're becoming a "Caraholic".Don't think they have a support group in place yet but don't worry,I can testify to the fact that it's not terminal, well not in most cases anyway!!I usually have from 4 to 6 cars in the shop and after nearly 30 years,my wife doesn't even count any more!I'm sure you can SmooootH things over by reminding her the Yeoman is for her,RIGHT!!!See Ya!!

Lance- like I tell my wife- at least I'm not out whoring around! She knows where my head is (as screwed up as it may seem sometime) and we "compromise" so have a good time with it!

Hi Lance,
I had four parts cars when I was doing my '58, and none were wagons. I had someone contact me the other day saying that he finally found a 2dr sedan delivery, and is looking for parts (rear seat). You could impress your wife by selling a few un-needed parts. (His is a sedan delivery with windows, and no rear seat). Just a thought.

I'll probably have plenty to get rid of by spring, the rear seat is my problem too, I think there's enough to salvage from one of the Yeomans to fix me up, but if I hear of any other back seats, I'll definetly post it.

Hey cruzr, your from K.C., what's the scoop on hotels around the new track? Any idea who the host is? How far away is the 'Plaza' downtown area? I hear that's the place to go for nightlife.
