I want to put open drivrshaft rear-end in my '38 Ford. They say a Ford Granada works best.Has anyone done this? Can I use the complete assembly with springs, without relocating the perches? Can I make my own spring mounts? Any other sugestions?
Thanks,

Yes, the Granada rear end is the ideal Ford rearend for your application, either in 8 inch or the rare 9 inch granada versions with drum(8in.) or disc(9in.). I have not attempted to use the stock Granada springs, but opt for a Chassis Engineering or even better an S.A.C. rod shop rear kit, (with longer springs than the Chassis eng. kit). I have used both kits with great success. neither kit requires moving the stock rearend spring pads, but the chassis engineering kit will require "lowering blocks" to achieve the rear stance you will want on a streetrod. for a stock height, the chassis eng. kit will work just fine.
