New Guy

Hi kids. Thought I'd stop by and sign up, now that I've bought a rod. I'm 59 and was a drag racer 35 to 40 years ago. D & E gas at the strip. I physically (never mentally)left the hobby of cars some time ago and only recently found the time and a few bucks to revisit my love of cars. An associate, when I worked, reintroduced me to street rods through Good Guys and NSRA. My first event was Indy 98 and since then every year after. I also go to Berrien Springs, Columbus and the Zoo in the fall. Haven't got to Louisville yet. Last Sept I bought a 91 tri black six speed Corvette convertible which was fun but left me lacking. This last year while in Berrien Springs I saw a for sale 32 3 window which my learned friends gave the once over when they saw my interest. They assured me that it was a well built car with lots of good parts at a fair asking price. I bought it. Picked it up at Indy and have been driving it everywhere since. It's bright orange with just the right stance. It's a Hastings body on a Just-A-Hobby frame. Heidt's super ride up front and a 9" posi with coil overs out back. Wilwoods at the corners. Power comes from a 30 over 396 with oval ports, Edelbrock Performer and 750 carb. A 350 auto delivers the power to that non drag 2.75ish gear. Tweed home built interior with 78 Grand Am seats. I'm real happy with this car and to my surprise, so is my wife. I can't go to a cruise without her. I'm thinking light flames and she's getting paint swatches. If you want to see a picture it's at another site and I don't know enough about computers to post pictures, it or me here. It's a wonder I haven't electrocuted myself. The URL is below. I'm sure I'll be back soon with questions so hopefully you'll bare with me. Oh yea, I've got to add anti-freeze to the Walker. Which way do I turn the petcock to start the flow? I can't remember if the threads are left handed or not. I think I want to go clockwise to open but don't want to scrap the bung...Frank

Welocme aboard Frank, You'll meet some good guys here. Almost like family.(almost) :) If you have any troubles posting a picture of your ride we can walk you through it. Or Jason will.
Anyway pull up a chair and make yourself at home.

Thanks for the warm welcome and the counter clockwise direction. Pulling the bottom hose certainly appears to be the definitive answer, although with that big block you wouldn't believe how that short hose is cramped into that small space. That, along with a drivers side opening hood and side panels in place have me leaning to the just reach down, petcock.
Cruzr, about that picture, where do I start? Thanks, Frank

I don't know if I'm ready for lots of flame fire. If you notice in the picture, which I've hopefully now posted correctly, their is the top of the side panel cut out showing just barely at the top of the tire. It's a rectangular oval 12"x5" at a 30' down angle to clear the Sanderson headers. I was thinking something subdued coming out of that opening but not reaching the cowl. Others have suggested continuing back and narrowing into the Cincinnati type. I'm unsure except if I start small I can always enlarge....Frank
