Guys (and Gals) I need a little help. I'm looking for a company that specializes in the manufacture of running boards (steel or fiberglass) for cars from the '30s and '40s for an SRS member. I know there is a Canadian company that makes them, but don't have their name.

I dont know what they make other than 37-38 chevy as i have misplaced their catalogue. Their # is 972-293-9449. Also Smoothie Fabrication has an ad in streetrodder. they make running boards for cars and trucks. I built a set of boards for a 34 Desoto last summer. I hammer formed them over a hardwood form. The hardest part was building the form, the boards took about an hour apiece after the form was built. The boards were curved on both the inside, and outside edges.

Dan, your not going to believe this, but I also have a \'68 Firebird convertible w/ a four speed!!! I bought it new and Karen Z and I went on our honeymoon in it. The Bird is an original carnival red. It was an optional color in \'68 that cost $100! However, my \'32 coupe is a Ford.

Johnny, I just talked to Greg and he indicated he could make the \'32 Plymouth boards. He would need an old one to use as a pattern. Greg is a great guy. I really enjoyed my conversation with him. I told him I was going to refer an SRS member to him. He said he only makes running boards and when someone comes looking for something other than running boards he will refer them to who he believes to be the best supplier. He believed the willingness of one rodder to help another and one rodding company to help another is what mades this hobby so great. I have to agree with him. If you need running boards, I encourage you to talk to Greg at Smoothie Fabrications.

Heya Guy,
I used Smoothie Fabrication running boards on my '37 Plymouth coupe. They are very well made, and the mounting holes lined up perfect on the ends. You have to weld the mounting brackets on yourself, tho'. He builds them this way because not all of the supports under the stock boards are mounted in exactly the same place and angle. Simply bolt up the boards on the ends, and place the brackets between the underside of the board and the stock hangers (supports). Align the brackets, mark where they go, dismantle the set-up, and weld them where you marked them. Takes about 1 hour.
I highly recommend Smoothie-I was very happy with their product, and the price wasn't bad either.
