Sure is getting quiet around here. Are we missing a national crisis or something?

I think it must be the February blues a little early. It's the same on another site I frequent. We just got a "little shot in the arm" from a show in Toronto Ont. Not the big T.O. show that comes in March, but enough to get the juices flowing again. The real shot will be Detroit Autorama at the end Feb. The 49th annual, the oldest running show on the continent, how about that for credentials. We will be going live with a site called CruisinShow.com in about a week and if you don't mind Jason, when it is live, I'd like to plug it on this site. We're going to list cruises and shows first in Ontario then the boardering states (providing we get some help from rodders, then the rest of Canada.Wish us luck OK .

February Blues!???
How? or perhaps Where? Certainly not in Calgary.
We've had bare streets for most of January, I've been busting my butt to get the A back together before winter comes back (The ol' man seems to have forgotten about us this year).
Last weekend we had a great Valve cover race, it took some serious effort from our track manager to find enough snow to keep the track surface up to par, but he did it! We probably had 20 gravity powered sleds and 4 rocket powered ones. The racing Saturday evening was great, as was the pot luck supper and party.

I'm still here, just checking in now and then. been busy with my son. His house cought on fire last saturday morning. Since i went thru the same thing in 97, i'm walking him thru the insurance stuff. And the company that will restore all there belonging. I rather have all my teeth pulled than talk with the insurance companies.

Hi Bud, Sorry to hear about the fire. Everyones ok, right? Is there anything any of us here on SRS can do? Is your son married? If so, does his wife need some clothes/shoes/women stuff etc to tide her over till she can get to the stores? What sizes? What about kids? ages? sizes? gender? Let me know. My mom has a day center with over 170 kids and twice that many parents. They always pitch in when asked. By Friday i can have boxes pack and ready to ship. Please let me know what I can do to help.

Good, there's still life at SRS. I was beginning to think everyone had left. Like someone said, the February blues must be starting early this year.

Sorry to hear about your son, Rick. We hope everything works out.

Hey Mike, Right here in beautiful downtown London Ont. We have 3-4 "FEET" of snow that came before Christmas and hasn't left yet. Right now it's 0 degrees centigrade and raining. Some of the snow is melting , but it's supposed to get colder tonight. So needless to say trhe Chev is in bed for the remainder. Probably be out about the crack of May. I just wanted to say that I've visited your site a few times. Nice work!

Hey Rochie! Send some of that snow out here.
Everyones hating spending the winter on their rock skis.
The snow pack in the mountains is very poor, heck the trans Canada hasn't even been closed through Rogers Pass due to a rouge avalanche yet.
Dog sled trials in Canmore are canceled, the land scape is dirty and brown. Overall this winter really sucks.

Thanks for the website compliments, they keep me going.

Hey, we have even had some snow here in the high country of Arizona the past couple of weeks. Since it was too cold to go out and drive our streetrods we took the opportunity to up grade a friends '47 Mercury Coupe to a MII front and a 8in Ford rear. Got rid of the old buggy spring stuff and made a really nice driver. Still planning to replace the aging 283/hydro with a 350/350 before the end of winter.

Mike My baby (24 yr old 200 pounder) passed through your way about two weeks ago on his way to a friend's place in Victoria. He's in Revelstoke now, Boardin' his brains out. Says the snow is great! What did you guys out there do to deserve a snowless winter. You must have ticked somebody off. If you are that dry, he may be back in the spring fighting fires. He got sent out there 2 years ago from Fort Frances. I certainly hope not.

cruzer, very sorry to hear about your son. Pls give us an idea of the kinds of things they're going to need. Karen Z and I would like to help.

I've been trying to shake the winter blues by tinkering with the coupe. I'm installing a radio/CD player Karen Z got me for Christmas and a Vintage Air air conditioning unit we picked up at Louisville last summer. I'm also changing gears in the differential...moving from 3.55s to 3.00s....rpms at crusing speed were just too high. In addition to the above I'm installing one of our new remote reservoirs for my under-floor master cylinder. By the way, these units work and look great. Finally, I installed an aluminum Moon fuel tank in front of my radiator.

Very glad to hear that, Rick. That's very scary to think about, especially since we have a baby on the way. You have to be thankful in a way; it could have been a lot worse.

I am here. We are in NY State near the NJ border and it is raining real bad here. We still have about 6 inches of snow on the ground too. I am sitting at the computer trying to figure out what to do with the '47 Cadillac we just bought. I need ideas!!!!! What can we do to upgrade the brakes? It is or would have been easy to do all of this on the '41 Chevy. That is all bolt in. What about the Caddy?

HI Alan, I've got an idea for the Caddy. Cut the top off, chop the windshield, lay it back, smooth everything, french the lights, drop a ZZ4 motor with a 700R hooked up,paint it purple, grey leather interior, then sell it to me. What do you think?

Hi DENISE, The only trouble with this '47 Cadillac is that NOBODY makes any bolt in parts for this car. I can't to my knowledge even upgrade the brakes. I will find either a donor (newer) chassis or have one manufactured by Marshall Banks of Distinctive Street Rods in NY State. That way I can have any rear I want too. I would like to upgrade the brakes ASAP if anyone has any ideas! Thanks! PS: Believe it or not.... Purple w/ gray leather was my idea first!

I'm still around!!! Wouldn't leave for anything, except cruzn around in my ride. And, that's just what I've been doing. Weather has been fantastic the last few days. Put nearly 300 more miles on the lil machine, and so far everything is working as it should. : )

Hi Tom ,no I dont usually sell them seperately.I like to be sure that the end result will be a front end that works. With just the top towers what would he use for a crossmember ? A butchered original.......maybe welded in wrong or something else he came up with ? Who knows. See you, Larry .

I'm still here too. I pop in every other day to check out the posts, just haven't posted anything myself for some time. Broke my truck 2 weeks ago (sheared the pinion gear I think) and it's down till spring. Having a street rod as your only transportation has it's drawbacks. Driving a very tacky '79 Plymouth Caravelle wagon now. Fake wood side panels, roof rack, factory am/fm 8-track. :-(
Nice to see all the RRT guys in here now. :-)

Bummer Alan, Hope you don't have rodder withdraws. I don't have the gutts to drive mine in the winter when the snow is coming down. To many crazy drivers out there. I'll drive it when there's no snow.
The good thing is spring is just around the corner.

Rick, I am tooling around town in the '41 Chevy till We sell it. When the '47 Cadillac gets here next week, I will drive it all over. Just not if the roads are bad.

Thanks, Rick.
I haven't had too much trouble with the winter drivers, but it is nice not to be driving it every day. I just wanted to see if it could be done. Had to claim I had more winter miles on my truck than Mike (c-word) has on his roadster. *LOL*
I have a few changes I want to make to the truck anyway, and this will give me ample opportunity to tackle them.
