OK, I'll bite. I always enjoy NHRA in Springfield, MO in the spring. Good vendors, good shade, not too small, not too big, lots of nice rods. Mostly it's close to home for me and in a normally cool time of the year. Sometimes it's rainy, but that's what chamois are for.

My all-time favorite has to be at the last points race at Coos Bay International Dragway, Coos Bay, Ore. Winning that bracket race after 5 rounds of .520 reaction times with a final round .501 and a .002 package. Not to bad for my 1st full season after a 10 year break.

Okay I'll bite......and we still have snow on the ground in Atlanta!!!! Another few days and it'll be gone, hopefully.

I have two favorite events for two entirely differing reasons. The first is the Indy Goodguys, and yes I'm biased because it's my home town. The cars, the drags, the fried catfish, mom's home cooking for a few days.....nothing like awsome cars, awsome drags, the smell of fuel and rubber, the feel of that beer and the Indian sun fries your face, homemade greenbeans and ham and a familiar to sleep in.

My second is a close and maybe equal is "Shades of the Past" in Pigeon Forge. The show is only 50% of the ambiance with just to die for cars and lots of friendly people with the vending area decent as well. There is literally 8,000 cars on the streets of Pigeon Forge at night cruising and sitting in all the lots to be drouled over. We get our favorite spot on the street/sidewalk and sip peach moonshine watching all the cars and people go by, walk the lots till you drop, then go to the cabin up on the mountain to the quiet of the woods. .......well you get the idea! Simply relaxing as it gets. Get up the next morn and start all over.

"Shades of the Past", Pigeon Forge, Tenn. in September. The show and vendors are great, but the best part (to me) is the continious crusing up and down the main drag. Three lanes going each way. Cruisers use the far right lane. Chairs and spectators lined up for probably 2-3 miles on both side. Hmmmm, makes me want to go pack the ole '32 now.

Haven't been to too many "big" events, but my favorites, in no particular order, are:
MSRA Back to the Fifties (attended once, in 1993 and want to return)
NSRA Spokane NW Nats (easy 500 mile one-way drive for us)
Customs Northwest "Unfinished Nationals" Had a blast there in '99. Really cool event if you like primer. :-)
Foothills SRA "Fun Run", any year. Our club hosts it and we're able to draw cars from as far away as southern California every year. Nice small (125-150 cars) event with a lot of bang for your buck.

I think the one out-of-town event we want to try and hit in 2001 is Dago's Fun Run in Coeur d'Alene Idaho, sometime in September. From what I've heard it sounds like a lot of fun.

btw...are we supposed to park our rods for the winter?? I have sooooo much fun driving my '48 in the snow every day. :-)
