If you can shake it and you got enough room to get the headers down and out between the frame rail motor mount and the block itself Southern Streetrods aka Southern Rods & Parts makes what I think is the best headers out there, they can build them to your specs and what you want or they have headers made that just may squeeze in there with no problem. With this I think its safe to say you can forget block huggers and get full blown headers with the collectors and I think if my memory serves me they send you gaskets along with the whole package. Check 'em out and see if they cant make a set for you.

SLAMMED AGAIN.... ALL I ASK IS CHECK EM OUT AND COMPARE, I KNOW YOU WILL AGREE THERE IS A QUALITY DIFFERANCE. I`VE USED A SET OF HEADERS FROM SOUTHERN, FULL LENGTH, NICE...BUT NOT WHAT I EXPECTED IN A QUALITY HEADER. I`M NOT KNOCKING THE COMPANY, JUST MY OPINION. THE PRICES OF BOTH ARE VERY COMPETITIVE. BUT APPLES AND ORANGES IN COMPARISON. IF YOU WOULD LIKE A PHOTO OF MINE TO COMPARE, LET ME KNOW, I`LL SEND EM TO YA.. HAPPY CROOZIN SEASON...ED

Don't forget about our ceramic coated huggers. We sell lots of them and haven't had a complaint yet.
Hey SRS.... Ive looked everywhere. Does anyone make block hugger headers to fit a 1970 390 Ford engine? I looked at Sanderson, all they seem to have is block huggers for the 400s and up and 302/351s.
Does anyone make huggers for the 360/390 engines?
Thanks in advance. -D

Bob, I use Summit's wires and the insullator that covers the plug (front and rear) rests right on the header pipe. The insullator turns white at the contact area, but does not burn. I've run it that way for two years.

I run Sanderson cast iron block huggers on my BB chevy.I had trouble with my wires until I found a set of Champion truck wires. They are bakalite on the engine end and can take the heat.It solved my problem so try that if you want to stay with the manifolds you have...Ray

Highboy,
I am using block huggers on my 350 Chevy. They are Jet Hot Coated. They work fine. I am using Taylor Stainless Braided Wires. While the plug boots are close, they won't burn as long as they don't touch . I've found that different plug wire manufacturers have different boot sizes, angles, and so forth. If you search around, you may find a pair that you can route around the headers without touching them This will be alot more cost effective, not to mention a time saver.

ALSO CHECK OUT "SHORTY" SPARK PLUGS. THEY GIVE YOU A LITTLE MORE ROOM FOR THE BOOTS. CHAMPION HAS A FEW TYPES IN THE SHORTY VERSION.
