i have tried several rearends under it and the two i have has been too wide, I want to install a chevy if possible because my heidt IFS has a chevy bolt pattern already. Will a s10 fit it and how much backspacing should the rims have to properly clear the fenders and wheel well??Any help would really be appreciated.

The best way to go is with a 8" ford rearend the bolt pattern to day is easy .the 8" is the right width i have used them in a lot of cars. most wheels today have two bolt patterns ford and chevy.

I guess that you are talking about a 30 Ford? If that is the case, a granada rearend is too wide!! the correct 8 in. would be from a Maverick. this will provide the correct clearance and backspacing, I had one in my 30 model A roadster for 11 years!

i am building a 31 ford coupe, i used a rear out of a 73 v-8 merc comet. it is the same as the maverick but a lot of people overlook them in the recking yards. it fits perfect, both with stock 15x7 wheels and the 15x8 reversed wheels i am using now, even with 31x10.5 tires there is about an inch between the tires and inner fender.

I run an 8" out of a 75 maverick. Approx. 50" backing plate to backing plate. With 275/60-15 I've got about an inch between tire and wheel well. No fenders so width isn't a problem but I wouldn't go any wider on the rear end.
