A few people stay up in Clarksville, IN about 8 miles north of Louisville because the rooms are a lot cheaper. I've heard they're cheaper down by Elizabethtown, KY too. The prices of rooms in Louisville have gone up every year. For instance, I just did a search for available rooms and found a Quality Inn at the airport for $250/night....some are more. Mine was $79 last year and jumped to $125 this year with a minimum of 4 nights. Its right next to the fairgrounds but its getting ridiculous.

I know a guy from Wisconsin that gets a block of rooms at the Holiday Inn on Preston Highway by the airport and he might still have something available. I think they were $95/night. If you want to get a hold of him, email me at junkmailthis@yahoo.com and I'll give you some info. I get rooms thru him for other events.

Daryle, I've got 4 extra rooms at the Signature Inn just 2 exits south of the fairgrounds. They're $100 per night. Your more then welcome to one or all. I will not be cancelling them till the last minute. Let me know

There are a few B & Bs close to the fairgrounds around Central Park in Old Louisville. We're staying at the Inn At The Park and when I looked yesterday there were still a few openings. The place is great, but not inexpensive. Great hosts (who "really like the car people") full gormet breakfast, snacks and drinks in the afternoon and evening etc.
