Maybe I wasn't clear on my last request, but this is what I would like you guys to tell me about coilovers. You guys running '32-'34 hi-boys,, What spring rates are you running on your rearends? Are you running progressive wound or not, and would you change them if you had to do over? Read that as,,, next time I would go lighter or stiffer. Also, what manufacturers shock are you running, do you like them. I'm trying to throw together a '32 hi-boy and this is the kind of information that can save a rookie like me a lot of trail and error. Thanks again.

Mac, I am using TCI's AllAmerican coilovers on my coupe. I don't remember what the spring rate is but they are progressively wound. They seem to work fine. I would recommend going elsewhere than TCI for suspension needs. The quality on my shocks is kinda questionable. Plus, I have had some bad experience with their so-called customer service. I would get ahold of Alden Shocks and ask them what their recommendation would be.

ZZ Ford thank you very much. After I posted my message I got to thinking maybe getting ahold of a manufacturer would be the way to go rather than hammering on you guys. So I think that is what I'll do. Thanks for the advise on TCI. I'll call Aldan.

I got a set of Coil-overs from HAL through JEGS. I really like them, but their only sitting in the box. I got 250 lb. They are a silver-grey powercoat and will go on the 35 Ford Pickup. But Im still working on the MII front install and boxing the frame, so I have a long way to go, and couldnt tell you If I had to do it over again, as I have yet to get it done the first time. They sure do look good though.
Also, as far as what lb to get, is yours a fiberglass car, or steel? What kinda engine you gonna run? I think if your going with a Blown Big Block, you would want stiffer ones, than if you were dressing up a nice little flattie. Call HAL too. Ive never heard any bad about them, and mine look good in the box (HeHe).

I was just wondering after reading the "coilovers" if something like a Jaguar rear end coilover would work. Jags where not exactly lightweights and it would seem that a pair of them might be close. Just a thought... Fred
might triumphs over right

I have a 30 sedan with a little extra weight in the rear 250 were too soft I went to 350 and I am using fullbore shocks I got them because of the adjustment for racing applications you can pretty much lock them as far as weight distribution goes I think the HAL's are the better looking but not as much adjustment.

I have a '29 Ford roadster w/o fenders and switched from old Spax coilovers to a set of Aldan coilovers with a 180# spring. It rides and handles great. I will use them on my next car, definitely.
