Woddy!
Yeah, I returned a couple of weeks ago. We had a great time. After doing the DisneyLand, Universal, Hollywood stuff with my daughters, they allowed me to take in a few car events.
I went to Boyd's wheel shop (nothing much to see) and also to his Garage. A beautiful Garage with the Led Zephyr in the lobby. Cool car. Virtually NOTHING else happening in his shop though. And I mean NOTHING. No one there working and only a nice lady who greets you in the lobby. It was a HUGE disappointment after everything I have seen and hear about Boyd. I guess perception is NOT reality.
Also visited Dagel's. Now THAT is a place to see. Tons of activity in the shop. Full of cars and great people at the front counter.
By far the best in terms of parts though was CW Moss. You name it, they have it. Plus they have some cool old hot rods on display in their store. I saw quite a few fenders that looked like NOS hanging on their walls. I bought some 32 roadster hood releases for $5 each. NOS too!
Also went to a cruise night recommended by Dr J on this site. I think it was called Fresco's or something like that. The cruise was great and the food even better. Talk to Dr J to get the details.
Also went to Bakersfield NSRA show. For a Canadian boy I sure did see some high dollar cars like I have never seen before. But, like I said before, the NSRA shows are full of old farts. I overheard a number of conversations about blood pressure, cholesterol, hearts, failing health, you name it they have it. I'm not young but geez, these guys are OLD. Makes me wonder what will happen to NSRA once they all die off.
I took a ton of pics with my new digital camera. Unfortunately, they all turned out way too light. Still learning how to use the dang thing.
There is also a guy I met via internet that is really tuned into the car scene. I will find his email address and send it to you.
Have a good time!!
