Does anyone have any experience with Remote door latch openers from SPAL, DAKOTA DIGITAL, or AUTO-LOC? Do I need the 35# solenoids on a 56 F100?
THANKS,
Larry

Larry, I used 80 to 86 dodge van door lock solenoids for my 57 chev, a magnetic micro proximity switch and a pair of relays to provide power to the solenoids, and bicycle brake cable to pull the latches, simple, easy and CHEAP!!! You could always wire in a remote for the key fob thing.

A bone, the problem with the selinoids are usually not the selinoids at all but the inside handle is a bit too strong to get a good release. Try this disconnect the arm that operates the inside handle, if this works try using a piece of cable to the handle instead of the rod that should give you enough slack to pull the latch open quickly. Use the rod on the selinoid to the door mechanism.

I originaly was using Caddy door lock solenoids on my 56 F-100. Bought some Ball style at a Goodguys show a few years back and needed two on one door just to pop it open. This past summer one of the Caddy solenoids went bad, I had just junked my daughters 84 Tempo but kept the door lock screw motors. I didn't think they would work because of their size, but was surprised how much pull they had. They pop the doors open with no problem. Might be worth a try.
