I am taking my family on vacation next week to California. We will do the usual Disney Land, Universal studios gig but will have some free time to do the hot rod thing too.
Can any of you recommend a must-see, must-do tour while I am in the Anaheim area. I am thinking of rod shops, etc.
On the 28th we will be going to Bakersfield for the first day of the NSRA show. They are very patient with my addiction.
Any other recommendations?
Thx

I too will be going to the Anaheim area the end of May. I have been looking through Street Roddder for manufactures in the area. I think TCI and SAC are in the area or nearby counties. Boyd Coddington is somewhere around there also. Let me know what you find out or see!

AL; I don't envy you, When you are driving, look straight ahead Those drivers down there are not too kind to drivers that look at them if you catch my drift. Helps if you speak and read foriegn languages also. Let your fingers do the walking on the net. There is a cruise almost every night of the week some where down there. A while back I was surfing and ran across a site that had a lot of clubs & shows & cruises listed . Didn't favorite it so can't tell you where to go. Was in san berdoo for a route 66 rendezvous in 97. Haven't been back since. Good luck R P peggys other half

Check out Dagels Street Rods in Orange. Gary is a good friend of mine and ususaly has several rods under construction. I would give you his phone number and address, but I am moving our mail server as we speak, and cannot look it up. He advertises in StreetRodder every issue. If you happen to stop by, say hello for me.

Al, don't mean to throw cold water on the trip but California drivers are the rudest people in the world with the exception of the older street rodders. What you have to look out for are the little old ladies (?) Driving MB's that drive with one hand and use the other for...well...let's just say they'er not nice showing their IQ... At any rate, saw the the QE2, Disney land, and then we came home early not being very happy with the people and traffic. Will never go back for any amount of money...Fred P

Fred (and others)
Thanks for the tips. I will check out Dagel's and also look for a site that lists the cruises.
I am used to rude and crude drivers. Two or three days per week I work in Manhattan. It can't be worse than that! Can it???
Al,
You have to go to "Donut Derelicts" on any Saturday morning. hundreds of cars, with everyone eating donuts, drinking coffee and lieing about past races, I mean telling rodding tales.
It's from 6:00 AM to 9:00AM
and it's over and gone by 9:00 AM!!!
It's at the north east corner of Adams and Magnolia in Huntington Beach. Ca That's a couple or three cities south west of Disneyland / Anahiem.
There's a bunch of stores androd shops in the city of Orange, Stanton and Huntington Beach
I highly recommend buying a "Thomas Guide" L.A. and Orange County road atlas as soon as you get here. It will save you hours of "lost" time

Check out hotrod.com. I think you'll be in town for the end of the Power Tour.
