How do you tell the differance between a 283,305,327,350,400 when they are sitting on a shelf or still in the car at the local bone yard. Is there any special marks on the block that would give you a hint as to there size. Pontiac cast the size into there blocks, Yea I know thats to easy, but without a book full of casting #s am I at the mercy of the junk yard and his "expert" vehicle dismantlers.

Thats what I was afraid of. There is no simple way without cross checking numbers with the books. I was hoping for something like a big red flag that said "350" and a black one for "283",etc,etc. Well you get my idea. Thanks for the link.
