Hello everyone, mabye you can help me out. If I purchase a 89 iroc Z for the motor and trans, I know I will need the computer to run the motor. My question is about the computer chip in the key that works with the ignition, can this be by-passed so I can use a regular GM colume, or will I have to have the columne from the donar car also?

The "chip" in the key is really a resistor. Measure the resitance of the key and soider in a resistor of the same value to "trick" the puter. Why don't you want to use the iroc column?

Thanks stupidbaker57, the reason is the colume is busted up from an attemped theft. I have an older GM column from a chevelle, but didn't know if I could use it, becouse of the key chip.
