NW Nats Moving ???

Heard from a buddy whose a safety insp. for the NSRA that they're leaving Spokane. Nice venue and can only surmise that it is a car count and money issue, Guess after 15 yrs that Patty and I will have an extra $56 to spend elsewhere not counting what we spend annually in Spokane. If it's true adios NSRA. Guess I'm not the only one in the NW that feels that way either.

Your right, it probably is a money issue and car count. But, the money issue is usually, that the city Fathers start getting greedy and start jacking up the prices for the opportunity to hold the event there. The cost go to the Vendors and the NSRA or whom ever it is that has to make a decision, normally from complaints, from the rodders attending and the Vendors, that have to pay for things. Take the Nats North. The City was starting to jack everything up, and so were the locals, ie Hotels went from $50.00 to $60.00 a night to $100.00 and $125.00 a night and you HAD to take a room for three nights or no sale. So, it may be the same with the NW Nats. Wait till the dust settles or write them and ask them yourself. Sometimes a good rumor goes along way. Know what I mean?

Oh...I'll wait and I'll also talk to the NSRA, But if it's true and they move a few hundred miles away to make another buck, it won't be mine or several of my buddies

Nomobux, please post what you find out from the NSRA. I've been asking around here (Spokane). What I here is that the fair grounds management dosen't want cars on the lawns. So far that is also rumor. The fair grounds management, and the city, and county governments, here have a history of stupid decisions. Cutting off their nose to spite their face would be nothing new. I'll keep asking around, but no one seams to know much. I hear It might be moved to Post Falls, but again it's only rumor. We had a little over 1100 cars last time. I don't know if that's enough to make it worthwhile (profitable).

The problem was with the Spokane fairgrounds and the city, not with car numbers. From what I understand the NSRA did not want to leave Spokane, but due to new city bylaws and a problem with the grounds they had no other choice. I had an email yesterday from Don Warner, and NSRA rep in Idaho saying this. He says that we have to start mailing the NSRA to try and find an acceptable solution. From what I read in Don's email, the "NW Nats" will be relocated to Sacramento CA in 2002.

I intend to call the NSRA and some city fathers in Spokane. Hey Tinbender..I could use a number. What does the Dukes ( one of the oldest clubs in the country ) have to say about this. Post Falls would work. I sure as hell don't call Sacromento NW country. I say again..if the
NSRA pulls the plug..it will be a cold day in hell before the see another buck outta me. Tinbender...if you can ...e-mail me some numbers and as you are in the area, talk to the Dukes and see what they have to say. whotrod@webtv.net

You'd think they could find someplace in Washington to hold the event. I agree, though, that if it doesn't come back to the NW then I will probably drop my membership as well. I don't mind driving a bit to get to an event, but having to drive 2 days to the closest one (Pueblo) is a bit much, even for me.
