I just read the "censor" thread and it looks to me like both parties share some blame here, but like one poster said it's not about pointing fingers at each other and blaming the other guy or their points of view. This has toppled us like a column of dominos! This is the very thing that the enemy wants to do to us. Divide and conquer. Let us squabble over our internal issues rather than focusing on the real problem.....them! Can't all of you see it? I am as mad, frustrated and ticked off as the next guy. I want to the guy that pulls the trigger on the first cruise missile into their camp. I thought my thread, that was taken down, was pretty eloquent and walked the fine line between reason, panic and hate (all of these we need in certain and prudent doses at times).

Even though Jason is relatively young by my perspective (I am 50), I have had more that enough communication with him and several others at the site to respect his opinion. I do not think that he is too young to understand, nor do I think he meant anything personal to anyone of us including you Fred. But, I think that Fred's comments could be misconstrued to mean a whole lot of other things and besides, we all say and do things when we are angry that we regret later.

I will admit that I was a little surprised when the thread was deleted, but because the whole thing COULD be taken in another light, the responsible and prudent thing to do as a site owner was to just take the thread so as to not offend or fend off any advertisers. You would have been concerned about the very same thing. I KNOW that Jason didn't mean anything personal by it at all. It seems that someone or alot of us read it that way. We are mistaken.....including me after thinking about it.

Even though this is a unique and tragic time in our history, and some venting is expected, this really is not the place and time to do it either. The place to vent is the voting booth next time around! I know you guys don't look at it this way, but this site is a place of business just like a restaurant or store that you walk into. This is not a public forum. If you stood up in a restaurant and yelled ANYTHING for that matter, don't you think the restaurant would escort you out in fear of losing customers and moreover, is the restaurant a viable place to vent to everyone there?

One poster is right tho....when you put politics and religion into the mix at ANY site it causes controversy and eventually runs into problems. We have seen this in spades in many a failed site that didn't take immediate and swift action to curtail it.

So....take a deep breath......and all of those who said they were leaving may do such, but will be woefully missed in the usual conversations and such. Please reconsider, I even thought long and hard about the thread removal....but after thinking through it......it was the only thing he could do.

Jason, I do think that you jumped to conclusions about a few things and moreover the flip remark to one poster about wanting to leave and you didn't do a very good job of responding to a possible customer as well as just "see ya". I think doesn't bode well for your advertisers either. So lots of misinterpretations and mistakes got us here.....let's see if we can't reverse course and just think about the future and how we can change it to not let this tragedy happen again!

I appreciate you trying to calm things down here, but I will not assume any blame for what has happened. I removed the post around 10:00 last night after things were getting out of control. Very few people here saw the entire post (which was the point) and are shooting their mouths off about things they don't know about.

If I may summarize:

* A post was made about the terrible events of yesterday and the poster gave their sympathies

* A reply said "I guess this is the price we pay for allowing people to infiltrate our society so easily"

* I read this as "I guess this is the price we pay for allowing foreigners in our country" and posted a message saying that this is the kind of closed-minded thinking that causes so much hate in the world. I too offered my deepest sympathies for the victims.

* Replies followed stating that my kind of thinking is why wars start and that nobody needs comments from a "snot nosed punk kid"

* Another reply came stating that I was right in that retaliation was not the answer (which I never said)

* Thinking that I may have interpreted the original post incorrectly, I posted saying that. I said if the post was referring to allowing foreigners in the country, I stood by my statement, but if the statement was referring to the fact that terrorist cells are allowed to blend into our country easily, then I agreed with this and I offered my apologies. I also stated my opinion that I thought that retaliation was 100% necessary in this case because if we didn't, we just left ourselves open to more attacks. I also stated that these opinions were mine and not those of SRS as a whole.

* Replies to this included "Hey punk, nice backpeddling..." and that I was a "Snot nose punk kid" who can't understand until I have to quit my job and go to war

* Seeing as this thread was quickly getting ugly and that we were entering personal attack areas, I removed it. We have always removed posts that have resorted to name calling and we always will. We are all for open conversations as long as they don't violate our very visible rules. We have never removed a post because we don't agree with an opinion and I'm alarmed to see that many feel this way.

* The 'censor' thread was then created and is still available to all to read.

* I was then sent a private message saying that "Maybe at Rinebeck i can do some more damage to you."

I'm just as sickened by yesterdays events as anyone, but I'm still not sure why so many are directing their anger towards me. I really can't help it that I'm younger than most of you and that I've never served in a war. If that bothers you, you'll just have to find a way of getting over it.

As for upsetting our advertisers or notifying them (with what, I don't know), those are silly comments seeing as how we don't have any.

Yep...ditto.....I agree...if you're gonna name call and so forth the man is in control of his business.

ps to Jason....did you ever think that I might be a future advertiser since I am going to put products up on your site? I think your statement about advertising is not thought out. You do sell products on this site do you not? Just an observation, not meant to offend or criticise!

And.....you are right.....I did not get to read all the goings on.....so I can't pass ANY judgement there.
