Still waiting to get mine in the mail too.
It's been on the news stand at least a week.
I'm pissed...
I just subscribed after dropping it several years ago and only one out of the last three has arrived unmollested or torn.
And now their poor service can be expected from R & C and HR?

I'm in Illinois, and the newstand has always had Street Rodder a week or so before I get mine. I thought I read somewhere what the reason for this practice was, but it was some time ago, perhaps on the old RRT. I think it has something to do with distribution practices. But I always thought it was strange that subscribers shouldn't have their copies first. Maybe someone at the magazine can enlighten us.

Well, their website is down.
http://www.streetrodderweb.com/
Perhaps they're busy fixing the website and forgot to mail our issues of the Rod Bible. LOL
I think we should get free issues for compensation!
I did E-mail the McMillin/ Argus publishing webmaster and tell him about our dilema.
That's available at:
http://www.mcmullenargus.com/magazine.html
I hate when the magazine is on the shelf before I get it at home, because I can't resist buying it, or, standing in the isle for 15 minutes paging through it while my woman shops for food. LOL

This morning I called McMullin Argus and talked to the customer service lady. She added two additional months to my subscription. Went out for some parts. Fellow that owns the store is a rodder. He told me he was still waiting for his copy too. On the way home I stopped at Books-A-Bizilion and bought an October Street Rodder. Called my friend at the parts store to give him the 1-800 number. Guess what? The mail had just come and his October Street Rodder had just arrived. My mail came a couple of hours later and I got mine too. Always happens that way.

Finally got mine today, well, I guess it was yesterday now. What a great issue. First off CONGRATS Al!! Those are some awesome photos of your rod and a great article too. Did everyone read "Rodders Mail"? It seems our forum here at SRS is just about inline with how the rest of the rodding community feels on certain issues, ie: lawn chairs, big-buck vs low-buck rods, and a tongue in cheek letter regarding a new classification system for streetrods!! How ironic that 3 topics that we've discussed here lately have all ended up in one mailbag. Also in this same Rodders mail is a poem written by my buddy Leon from southern CA. Leon is a rodder you guys would all love. Him and his wife DROVE their 23 T that he mentions in the letter from southern CA to here in Detroit this past May. Then turned around and drove it back to CA on the Power Tour. A total of over 5,000 miles, in a T!!!!

By the way, I know the big buck rods are bashed here on a regular bases but just incase you guys are interested Fred Warren did DRIVE his newest creation up and down Woodward Ave last month. It's more then I can say for alot of low buck rides that stayed parked cuz they were too afraid of the traffic and over heating. :)

Ya got a nice little article there Al....Lots of other nice stuff in there too.

I was wondering the same thing a few of us have asked...How in the world did you get picked or called on to get your car in the mags?

A number of my buddys rods have been in Streetrodder over the years. Usually, you are approached at a large show by the mags personel, usually Eric, the cute, long blonde haired photographer. On the other hand, if you build rods on a regular basis, like Wayne Blackstock here on SRS, who builds Minotte bodied 37s, you drop SRM a note way ahead of time and let them know when and where the rod is being debut. They then set up a time and place near the fairgrounds to do the photo shoot.

Changing your gender might help too. LOL My rod certainly wasn't in the top ten of all the rods at the Detroit Autorama in 99 but I think Streetrodder liked the fact it belonged to a female therefore made it in the June 99 issue (page 134). Just a hint, if you do indoor shows and you do want a good chance of getting in a mag, make sure you have low stantions or that they can be easily move for the photo (they usually take the photos at night) and that you have a lucite sign with enough info that they can "tell a short story". Name and city captions in a mag are just plain boring. If getting your car in a mag is high on your list of goals, the key is just getting out and getting seen at as many shows as possible.

Humm.. How did I get in the book well my involvement
in Drag Racing for over 30 years helped.

I have been working on this project for 2 years and I guess one of my sponsors tipped off StreetRodder on this...

Now remember besides working a full time job and racing over 20+ weekends a year they guess I had some nothing better to but start roddding..

At this time I am in phase2 of my new project ... 39 Ford Convert which should be seen in some other mags early 2001
