Well the event is on, and it didn`t look like many stayed home. The turnout is high, both rodders and spectators. I saw a post where a fellow srs`er was wondering what Goodguys would do financialy.. Nothing but good news here, The Red Cross relief fund for N.Y.C. was fattened conciderably by donations from all the rodders and spectators. The generosity was unreal, and to top it.....Goodguys vowed to match all the proceeds collected. That will double the donations collected. Is that cool or what. Old glory was flying everywhere. Goodguys did the right thing by keeping the event on. People have stated that unanimously at the meet. Johnny Walker greeted all with his smile and asked for donations all saturday, He did not quit until they ran out of donation cans. Johnny....you da man.

Whenever you have a group this large, there are always a bunch of rude people pushing and shoving, mad because they didn't get a "their" parking place etc.
Not so this weekend. 99.9% of the people I came in contact with were just fantastic.
I think Tuesdays events made us all realize just how lucky we are.
The Goodguys made the right move going forward with this event. We all needed it.

Part of the reason for the lack of pushing and shoving was the fact that there was a lot more room this year. The Car Corral was moved out of the race track and the lot between the race track and the street was opened to roddrs as well.
FWIW, I was parked on the hill in the shade Saturday and Sunday morning.

Friday I parked next to "Fort Hot Rod", Saturday across from it, Sunday next to it again.
Saw your car Saturday but never saw you. Of course I didn't spend much time with the our car.
Sunday you were there when I parked, but I needed coffee. Walked down to Blondies and back, and you were gone. Man you move quick for an old fella! hehe
Where was Doug's coupe? Fort Hot Rod didn't seem right without it.

This was my 1st Rhinenbeck adventure--but not my last! Great place, super weather and nice people! We camped on the fairground with another 100 or so campers, my motor home was parked next to an Eagle Bus that had a custom paint job and custom interior (street rodded bus). Food in town was great also, really liked Marko Polo's Itialian "bar." The car were a different set than I'd seen before, many being from NY, VT, NH, CT and MA. Not many of them are at Charlotte or Indy. The trip from Maryland to NY was a bit on the sad side after traveling up the NJ turnpike past NYC. Comming back you still could see smoke comming up from the City. Good Guys did it again -- another Super event.

Hey dual are u goin' on that Eastern Shore cruise the week before the Fall OC show? Maybe we can hook up at 1 or both shows. Sounds like that Eastern Shore cruise will be neat coming up from OC to almost Chestertown I believe. If not then, the Halloween Run is 90% on for me Saturday Oct. 20th. If anything changes i'll let you know on either of the 3 shows.
