Goodguys and Rhinebeck Rodders Raise $15,000 for American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund

Rhinebeck, New York - The Goodguys 10th East Coast Rod & Custom Nationals, held September 14-16 at the Dutchess County Fairgrounds in Rhinebeck, New York generated a cash donation of $15,000 for the Poughkeepsie, New York
office of the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. Red Cross officials established several donation centers throughout the event resulting in both event participants and spectators reaching into their pockets to do what
they could to help the victims and families of the terrorist attacks on New York and Washington.

American Red Cross volunteers received donations totaling $3,759, which was matched by the Goodguys Rod & Custom Association. The Rhinebeck, New York Chamber of Commerce raised an additional $7,275.00 at the event bringing to
the grand total to $15,000.

The event attracted a record crowd of cars and people despite being held 3 days after the events in New York and Washington. Said Goodguys President Gary Meadors, "We had a partial staff that made it to Albany, New York on
Monday following our event in Colorado, and we had the remaining staff on planes on Tuesday that never made it off the ground, so we sat down and thought it through. We figured everyone was stuck for a few days and since
we had staff in place in Rhinebeck, we decided to proceed with the event and it turned out to be a blessing. People were apprehensive at first, but they all rallied and carried on with their plans to attend the event and in turn
got their minds off what was happening and showed a lot of pride and courage."

Perhaps event participant Fred Greco of Massapequa, New York said it best in a letter he sent the day after the 10th East Coast Nationals. In it he wrote," We just got back home to Long Island from the Rhinebeck event and
thank god it was as good, make that better than ever! The event served as a diversion to the tragedy in New York and Washington and the reality of what waits for us in the immediate future. We went to Rhinebeck hoping to be with
friends that shared similar interests and hoping to get our minds off the bad stuff and band together..we did just that."

If you would like to donate funds to assist the relief efforts, call the American Red Cross at 1-800-HELP-NOW.
