Voltage Regulator

Need some help on the wiring of a old school voltage regulator (no offense to the older crowd). This voltage regulator is separate from the alternator. The markings on the V.R. are F-1-2-3 and the alternator are R and F besides the battery post. I am pretty sure the F is the field but I am confused on what the rest are. I left my schematics at the shop and need some help. Can anyone direct me to a web page or anyone have their schematics around. It is a '65 chevy pickup.

Thanks
Shane

regulator is labeled F-2-3-4 from left to right as you are looking at it
F=field
R=rectifier
Bat=battery +
f on alternator goes to f on reg.
2 on reg. goes to R term. on alternator
3 goes to battery +
4 goes to idiot light
Bat.terminal on alternator goes to battery +
hope this helps

...and the other side of the idiot light goes to the "run" side of the ignition switch.

If you don't want to run an idiot light, tie 3 and 4 together and run them to the "run" side of the ignition swirch.
