OK guys. I'm back and need advice. I've been checking out the different wiring kits that are out there and have them narrowed down to three. Francis, Painless, and one I just heard about called American Autowire. Have any of you had any experience with any of these and especially American Autowire? Thank you. RRM.

Rat Rod I have used Painless and EZ Wiring. The EZ Wiring was pretty simple and basic. The wires are all one color(black) but marked about every foot or so. The price is right too. Painless is a good product but cost more. It too is fairly easy and all the wires are GM color coded and marked. Sorry I don't know anything about American Autowire.

I use Centech wiring for all my rod needs and in muscle cars and classics I do recommend American Autowire. I know these guys and they are qualitative guys and know what they are doing.
I find that the generic GV Centech series the best. They have a quality product, all the wires are labeled and color coded as well as a size up from Painless and Francis (don't know about Ez) per circuit in case you add features down the road. The kits are a few bucks less as well and come with explicit directions. Plus they are easy to get on the phone.
One point of warning......don't buy any wiring kit that charges the battery thru the fuse block. Charging circuits are the most effective when designed for direct tot he starter post or battery connection. I don't know if Painless is still doing that!

I bought an EZ system mainly due to cost. It is about $100 cheaper than Painless and the only difference appears to be the black wires versus color.
EZ claims the color coding won't do you any good when you have a wiring problem at night anyway. The wires are all marked every 5". Pretty neat kit.

Try www.centechwire.com for starters! Fred will be right along for the info on EZ wire......I don't have that info at hand.
american autowire all the way..i have used ron francis before(to overrated) painless is good..ex-never used..centec is ok..but for the money and especially there new kits(you can put fuse block anywhere)and you run the wires from the acc to the fuse block, extra wire, all labled every 3"...can`t go wrong...thats my opinion....good luck..let us know how you make out........pat

Cant go wrong with Painless, Everything that could be power in my ride is power and goin on 4th roddin' season with no problems at all. There for a while I drove myself batty fryin fuses but other than that it was smooth cruzin' exept for when I had a sudden thud and the steering shaft came apart from the 'maro box, that got a lil scary but I got it home under its own power. Luckily I was on my street when she popped.
Anyhoo if I were you spend the extra money and get Painless, a friend had a Francis system go into meltdown so I stay away from Ron and I try to warn others, not that this product is bad but Painless in my eyes are more dependable.
