Tonight there is a group of about 25 young people on my block with lit candles singing the National Anthem! It is something I never expected to see. I am only 45, so I do not know what it was like to go thru any war as my elders have done. I am not trying to stir up a debate or pass judgement. I am just saying we all need to unite in whatever form we feel is proper at this time in our Countries history. Alan

I agree
My family and I went out on the front porch and lit a candle in remembrance tonite at 7:00.
First time i've ever done anything at all like that.
I'd also like to add that in my 35 years I've never seen Canadians pull together like this.
I realize we are your neighbors but it sure doesn't feel like it.
It's as though it happened here.
Peace

Tonight, the company that I work for (PolyOne Corp) had a bingo night for all employees and wives/guests. All the money that we paid for the tickets, extra bingo cards, and all the money from the 50/50 drawing was donated to the Red Cross. There weren't many of us, as we are a small plant, but all total we raised almost $400. At 7pm, we all went outside for the candlelight vigil and moment of silence, then sang the National Anthem.
JCWhitney Company, which is about 10 miles from me, called me tonight to tell me that their car show this Sunday is cancelled, because of the recent tragedy. They have a car show twice a year, and don't charge any fees, and give away great door prizes. They were calling everyone that had entered the spring show to tell them...maybe between 200 & 300 cars.

I just got back from a great week-end at the NSRA Nats North and was wondering if the Canadians would be able to make it this year or not. Was glad that they could and am always glad to see them there. Talked to several and they said it was rougher then normal, but then they understood why. Was glad to hear the they went the extra mile to get there. Had several ask me for an American flag to fly. As most were already bought up, I was only able to get one and did give up one of mine. One fellow had a box in front of his car giving away small flags.
Also there was a donation drive going on all week-end and though I can't remember the exact amout of dollars that was collected, it seemd to me that it was somewhere in the $5000.00 to $7000.00 range. They were quoating all the donations from different groups like Street Rodders and Vendors and other groups that were there. And if my memory serves me right ( which it don't always) but they had a Canadian Donation as well.
We can and do pull together, when we need or want to.
God Bless America and God Bless the Canadians!

I have to agree that Canadians are Americans too. I used to have an office in Toronto and the culture there was so like ours.......yet so different. I really like the Canadian people. They are a mix of differing cultures as much as we are.
It was always amazing that Toronto, a city ten times the population that of Buffalo New York, had a tenth of the crime, yet only 90 miles away. It just blows my mind everytime I think of that. That says something about our culture in a negative way......I am not sure what tho?
Canada has always sided with us in any conflict, whereas we have been the one that kept the continent safe and secure. An attack on Canada would be an attack on the U.S. and that is known throughout the world.
So, Canada is a brother to us.......and they are behind us and feel like it's there big brother that has been bloodied.....there are willing to do what's right too.
Thanks to Canada and the rest of the World's countries that are in this with us. We have to draw the line in the sand and say to all countries of the world....you are either with us or against us.....there is no middle ground.

You know I was in Vietam and I'm proud to be a American but it's about time we stood up for us instead of someone else! This war would be for us the people! It doesn't matter if we have help from other countries or not! we need to protect our own for once!Don't get me wrong if some country wants to help we will welcome them and be proud to have them as allies but damit we have to stand up to the cowards of the world. The article said it all and I thank Canada for your support! GOD BLESS AMERICA

That was from a column by noted Canadian journalist Gordon Sinclair. Several versions are also available on records, check with your local radio station that plays oldies, rock and/or country.

These jestures of support for the American way are very nice but how many of these young people ran out and joined the military branch of there choice. I heard two guys talking in Wendy's the other day and the one said he was a reservist and was going to relocate so they couldn't find him to go active. I was forced to tell him what I thought of his idea.Is this the kind of young people we have to protect our American way now, or will they fight for the right to be an American. I served three years and three months in the army and I would fight again if the need be....Ray, even if I am an old f--t

My car club has an every Friday night cruise at a local resturant...we have a D.J. and normally take up a collection to pay him for his contribution. This past Friday we had a 7:00pm candle light vigil for the victims and families of the terroist attack and the D.J. played the appropriate music during. We took up a collection afterward, not for the D.J. but for the Firemen in New York.
Largest offering yet. We certainly couldn't be free to enjoy our hobby or gather together as we do if it wasn't for this great Country.
GOD BLESS AMERICA..

My car club is doing the same thing tomorrow night at our local cruz night. Hot dog and a pop for $5 with all the proceeds to go to the relief efforts. This car club, Americas Most Wanted, donates over $25,000 every year to local charities from monies that we've raised throught the year.
Another couple of warm and fuzzy notes: The local fire dept in the city of Taylor, here in MI, stood out in intersections all weekend and raised over $88,000!!! I went to a hard-core biker pig roast on Sat night and they gathered trailers full of supplies and are heading to NY with them!!! Way to go guys!!!

I know we have been trying to re-focus our emphasis here on cars and I TOTALLY AGREE!! However,I am a very enthusiastic(to put it mildly) Nebraska football fan and attended the game last evening. The tributes to the people of New York, the emergency personel etc as well as to our country in general were astonishing!!I heard the most heartwarming renditions of the National Anthem and God Bless America ever, sung by all 76,000 plus fans!!Then,it was so quiet you could hear your own heart beat as a music professor from the University played the most heart wrenching rendition of "Taps" on his Trumpet to honor all who lost thier lives!!Also in referance to the youth of our country,I have great hope as literally hundreds of young men and women gathered outside the stadium passing out bumper stickers that read "United We Stand" and collecting thousands of dollars for the relief fund. Now,Back to Car Stuff!!!! See Ya!!
