I don't know. I don't recall, but I get Thud Sound every time I put my car in reverse. Sounds like from front end, but can't find anything loose. Could it be a broken motor mount?

How about excessive play in the side gears of the rear end? Chrysler had a reverse "squawk" noise that a shim kit on the side gears fixed. In automatic trannys, reverse comes on with more line pressure than in drive. Dave

Rusty, Hope still have it. This winter if i keep it, I'm tearing it down and redoing the whole thing again. A whole new make over.

ebessr, Sounds more like a broken tranny mount. Or could be a u-joint going out. Better check them all. Breaking stuff sucks! Its much easier to fix before it actually breaks, than after.

The transmission mount is new, just put it in about 3 months ago and the U joints seem OK, but might replace them just for laughs & see what happens

Sounds more like motor mount on one side, U-Joints make a clanking or a clicking noise as You start to roll, not to mention the vibration as speed increases.

Don't forget to check the differential while you have the drive shaft out.
