What would be good candidate for a fuel tank for my 23 T-Bucket "INSTEAD" of those high dollar
aftermarket ones, surely something else will fit... AND whats the BEST place to locate it,in the
rear "BED" or under the seat or ??

Years ago I used a tank from a commercial air compressor in my T bucket, mounted in the Turtle deck. It held about 9 gallons. This was in the late 70's, cost about $25 new with cap.

HEY TUCK.....TRY SUMMIT, THEY GOT SOME ALUMINUM FUEL CELLS, MEASURE WHAT YOU NEED AND GIVE EM A CALL. GET THE FOAM FILLED TO PREVENT SLOSH. A DECENT STEEL FABRICATION SHOP IF YOU HAVE ONE NEARBY, CAN MAKE YOU A STAINLESS TANK WITH YOUR SPECS. SUMMIT IS FAR CHEAPER THOUGH.... IF YOU HAVE A SMALL BED AT THE REAR WITH A COVER ON IT, THAT WOULD BE AN EXCELLENT PLACE FOR YOUR TANK.

Hey Tukster! What about a big BEER Barrel? Had all the parts gathered together at one time but ended up with something else. At the first swap meet I went to, the barrel instantantly attracted a crowd wanting to know how much I wanted for it. Just off the top of my head I gave em a number that was to high to allow "bargining" and someone almost broke their wrist getting their wallet out and at the same time hollering, "sold"! Just goes to show that one man's .....etc... Any how the one I had was stainless and boy did it ever polish out very nicely! I must apoligize someday to the beer distributer I got it from and even with the contents and deposit, he he, I made money on it.Shame on me! Fred P

Grumpy, thanks for the link that got me to a very good Bonneville source. Got a friend that's running this year for the first time and anxious to find how he's doing. The reading kept the phone line tied up for at least an hour! lol Thanks again...Fred P

Whatever you use, if it's higher than the carburetor it has the possibility of siphoning the gas into the engine on a down draft system. Remember the shut off on Model A cowl tanks, and how the entire contents of the tank could and would run all over the garage floor if the nedle leaked on the up draft carburetor? Well, when Ford went to a down draft carb on the V8 he also put the tank low on the frame so it wouldn't / couldn't do that into the crank case of the engine. You can put a tank like a beer keg up high on the back but it's a good idea to put a petcock on it and religiously turn it off when you park, just like on a motorcycle.....Or you could have some mighty diluted motor oil...
