i think someone else posted this before but i want to install a power trunk lift on my coupe..now i see balls which makes you cut a long slot in trunk then i see the one made by downs manufacturing that works with just a single pivot hole..now other then buying the downs one what could i use(from a junk yard) that would give me the same results? i want as small as hole possible in the trunk due to running mini tubs..also need space for the wifes/kids toys chairs....also i`m going to be installing a power hood lift ..what would work for that?....thanks......pat

Years ago I saw a MG with a convertible top mechanism (electric?) from an old ford that was used for a trunk lid operation- maybe you can find an electrichydraulic unit that will work-good hunting!

I'll be putting in a power trunk lift this winter (when I get done drivin' the damn thing all over hell and back) I'm gonna use the motor and mechanics from a power seat. It's an acme screw and looks like an easy set-up. I have a pic of a car that had it's flip nose opened with power screws. Wish I knew how to post the pic! Dave

Pat; I used the driver lift motor & regulator from an olds cutlass,a relay & switch from napa. Ran a 1x6 behind the trunk panel. Cut the regulator arm in half to fit thru the trunk panel then welded a support on the back side drilled two holes in the other half & bolted it together after the unit was installed. Used the existing trunk support rod for the extension & made a u piece to bolt to the trunk lid. Hook it direct to the battery so you can open it when the safety switch is off. Cost less than 75.00 Works great RP peggys other half Oh yeah used the top of a plastic container to cover the arm, covered everything with the same material as was in the trunk. Gray vinyl in this case.
