ok i just got back from the junk yard(my fav place to spend the day) anyway i pulled the motors off a honda headlight assembly and a pair off an 83 firebird headlight assembly..now will either of these units be able to lift a glass hood, say about 30 pounds give or take 5 pounds?..pat

It all depends on leverage, where you mount the arms, how much lift, ect. It's one of those things you just gotta try, then work it out. I think I'd look at some power window motors and arms, plenty of throw, and should have enough power.
