Auto trans storage

I just had a 400 turbo chev transmission rebuilt for my 36 pickup which won't be running for 6 months at least. Is there anything special I should be doing with the transmission periodicly while it is stored? Thanks in advance for your input.

Just go by and pet it once every week or so and say reasuringly 'It wont be long, your times coming' other than that just keep the dirt out of it. WHen you install it pour 6 quarts of fluid in it and start up the engine and put it in reverse with the rear tires off the ground and immediately start pouring more tranny fluid in it. 400's usually take 12 quarts with a stock converter. Less if your using a smaller hi stall converter. after you get the level up to the full mark, run it through all the forward gears a few times then check the level again.
