Liz is in Street Rodder every month. She must be trying to take over from me.

That's Barb and Kathy sitting on the back of Liz's car in the pic...two other Lipstickers. I met Barb at Louisville last year...nice lady.

Oh Bob, Liz will never take your place...she's much taller and has a lot nicer body than you do :-)

"Oh Bob, Liz will never take your place...she's much taller and has a lot nicer body than you do :-"

Amen to that Purp! hehe

The first time I met both these caracters was about the same, only in reverse.

At a cruise night during the 01 Syracuse Nats, this big guy stood in front of the car and stopped me. He walked over to the side of the car, and stood there with his hands on his hips, looking down his nose. My wife freaked, she said "we didn't do anything wrong, whats his problem?"
After a long pause he stuck his hands in the window, and in a low voice said, "I'm Faat Rod.... from Wisconson."

At this years Nats I stopped Liz, and said "you know you woman should be home cooking and cleaning and tending the young'uns, you shouldn't be driving hotrods!"
Before she could leap out and bust my head I said, "I'm moondisc." Liz said "moondisc? You're a a**hole!"

2 more great people I met from this board. Ain't met a bad one yet.

Except Ed Croozer the no-show! hehe

This "new" Street Rodder would be the July? August? September? November? issue???

I dropped my subscription because it was coming to all the supermarket shelves a month before I got it in the mail. I figured I'd just buy it in the store instead, but it's funny, after thumbing through it, I haven't had the urge to buy one recently.

I'm starting to really believe the only reason I ever bought SR was to read "Bill's Eye View"
I guess the Philosopher King is dead and there is no sucessor.
Bill Burnham, we miss you. R.I.P.

How true Dr.J.
I use to look forward to the Goodguys Gazette for the same reason.
Then I enjoyed Titus column, until he kept plugging Chip Foose "like he needs a plug"
His column has gone down hill since those idiots at Fox cancelled his show.

Sept issue DrJ, pg 188. Gotta agree with you on not renewing Streetrodder...for $30/yr. I'll probably keep Rod & Custom and Streetrod Builder. They still have a place next to the throne. I usually thumb thru Streetrodder when it comes and put it in the pile of old ones which rarely get looked at again.

Being on this computer has severly dipped into my reading time, but I think I learn more here and I've got friends I never would have had if I was just reading magazines.

Simple fix, George!

www.streetrodbuilder.com and www.streetrodderweb.com read the online articles and your still on here! LOL SRM has gone downhill, I agree. I think if my drawing makes it in Steves article in NRM and SRM I'll ditch Street Rodder for them two magazines.

Gotta get the braggin in that my art made print. LOL

I also agree,StreetRodder is not the rag it used to be.I did just renew my subsription however. They called and offered to extend mine by three years for $52 and throw in a 2yr sub to Car Craft for free.Don't read Car Craft very often...guess I'll start.Funny thing is,I just got my SRM in the mail today and I'm already subscribed thru 2005...Now 2008!I'm not sure I'll outlive my subscrition!!See Ya!!

They called last night also. I turned them down. Mine doesn't run out 2004. They will still have a promo in a couple years.

You're right DRJ. I still get SR for the tech articles mostly but I still miss "In Bills' Eye". He was always there with a way of looking at something old to us but at a different angle or a new slant on something and always with good humor sometimes to the point of rolling on the floor with tears streaming out of my eyes. I almost always read it more than once in case I missed something the first time thru.
A lot of years ago I bought my first SR off the rack and it flopped open to Bills article and I never looked back. Much of the roddin world lost a true genious. His articles on Trailor queens, power parkers etc. are real classics.
When I heard of his passing, I went to the cupboard, got the bottle down, and hoisted one for him and wished him the best... Hope I don't sound corny but I never read a more insightful writer. Hope "Old Blue" is given a good spot in the roddin hall of fame too.. FredP

I saw the pic and thought "where's the caption?" and then I looed to see who wrote it and I knew right away why there wasn't a caption. I haven't seen anything worth reading from those two in ten years. They may know their way around a race track but they're sure off the mark when it comes to street rodding.

The classc I'll always remember is the way they went on and on about how it must have been when Paul White (Portland, Maine) saw a '50 Buick sitting beside a late Riviera in a boneyard and came up with the idea to put the Riv top on the '50. They went on and on about it. Kinda reminded me of the stuff my mother used to read in Good Housekeeping.

Paul didn't build the car. He never said he did, either. Gary Dilley (Covington, VA) built it and sold it to Paul in Louisville. Paul finished it but he sure as hell didn't come up with the concept like those two would lead everyone to believe.

Read the article in the newest Street Rodder on the Chrisman A sedan. There's a pretty long forward by Jerry Weesner on how history can be embelished, often by magazine folks, but photos don't lie. I have video of Paul's car in Dilley's garage YEARS before Paul ever saw it.

Bottom line.....I don't read ANYTHING by the Auschenbergers (sp). They never have their stories straight. Never have. Never will.

The past two stops on the Lipstick Run, SRS members have had their lastest copies of SR for Liz to autograph. It's a good thing she cruzes topless or she won't be able to fit inside Mr T!! LOL

(It's a good thing Liz doesn't get on the computer at any of the stops, she'd kill me for some of the stuff I've been telling!!! LOL)
