Turbo 350

Have a little prob. with the t350... recently re built,I hardly ever shift the trans. manually.I just put in drive and go, no problems,yesterday I put in first gear manually and it was like the brakes locked up?Gave a little more gas and it tried to release and go.Kinda acts like it is low on fluid??Checked fluid is ok.Thanks for any help,Bob

Did you replace the sping and roller on the center support ?If it is installed backward it can cause this problem or if it locked and will not freewheel.

If the roller sprag was installed backwards in the center support the tranny would not move the vehicle in the "drive" position. It would free wheel and transmit no power.

When the shifter is moved to manual low , the reverse/low clutch pack is applied for additional holding power.

Is it possible that the snap ring for the center support was left out or perhaps it has popped out??

What this does is allow the reverse piston to push the center support forward and bind things up in manual low.

did you put a "shift-kit" in? if you put the plates and gaskets for the valve body in incorrectly, it will act this way also! I just fixed a customer car with the same malady.
