Hi Fred, Well, it was an adventure to say the least. Got to Milwaukee on this past Wed (that's were the boyfriend/car-hauler lives). Thursday morning, hooked up the open trailer and hit the road. Took longer then expected to get to St Croix Falls, WI, it's right on the boarder of WI and MN. Got there just as it was getting dark and starting to snow. (my fault of course, LOL) Met Steve/Big Olds owner, went over the rod, did the paperwork while Big Olds was being loaded. Boyfriend/car hauler got his foot caught in some wires on the trailer (my fault of course) and pulled out some wires. No lites. Got those straighten out and hit the road back for Milwaukee. Stayed overnight there, then he decided he was going to rewire the trailer before bringing the car to Detroit. I came home on Friday without Big Olds hoping he was only a day or two behind me. Big Olds rolled up in front of my house at 5pm yesterday, in the dark, (my fault again, right?) Took Big Olds, on the trailer, up to the quarter car wash to get all the road grime and salt off him. Got back to my house, took the chains and straps off, went to start him, battery dead (of course, my fault), pushed him off the trailer, got the van to jump him but can't get the hood open, probley frozen lock, (again, my fault) did I mention its very cold outside, single digets, (my fault, of course). Gathered up 4 neighbor guys to help push Big Olds up the long driveway, slight incline, snow on the ground, heavy rod. Boyfriend/car hauler not a happy camper.(LOL) Are you seeing a pattern here? Got Big Olds safely in the garage, neighbors left. Boyfriend came in the house, used the restroom, put his coat back on, and said he was leaving!! I said fine, drive safely and he left! Back to Milwaukee I'm assuming. (after 4 months, single again!!) Spent some time in the garage with a hair dryer trying to get the hood open. No luck, will try again today. Got some buddys coming over to check out Big Olds, hopefully they can help. At this point, Big Olds is not going to his first party tonight but I am, single and ready to mingle!!
Hope everyone has a great New Years Eve, and if your going to indulge, please let someone else do the driving.

Not heart problems, bad back!! LOL, Only cuz you and I are GOOD friends will I laugh at that! And no, Mr current ex is not scared, he hasn't a clue. Never told him about the past ex's. LOL
Spent about an hour on the phone last night talking to "the talented one" from Ft Wayne about Big Olds. You know he has to be excited about it for him to spend an hour talking to anyone about anything! He had seen all the photos before I even bought Big Olds. His ideas and my ideas for the project are running along the same lines. He's coming to Detroit this weekend to check Big Olds over in person. I've got 4 boxes of stuff to go thru and a bunch of trim pieces to unwrap. Can't wait for you too see him also. Feel free to come up this weekend if you want to check the Olds out. We can make a party over it. bring your long johns though! LOL

I'll see it soon, if Feb. is soon. My weekend has already been planned for me. I informed a certain person this morning that I've let her plan my weekends for the last month so that I'd get to receive pay back in the next few weeks as the Indoor Shows start. Heck, I even went to church with her family on Christmas. That equals a trip to the Autorama. If Rob's working on the Olds then it will be nice. He's one of the best around.

Actually I'm back to using my model T computer. The "new" computer is back in the shop. This old one just doesn't cut the mustard when it comes time to go in the chat. My Yahoo Messenger works fine but the chat programs just don't want to load. Go figure! Kinda blows, ya know.

He is a southern gentleman..... you have already seen him. His name is Lee. He has a nice new truck and a almost new trailer. See if you two hooked up you could leave the cold, cold north and come south where it rarely snows and when it does.... everyboby stays home and has a party. He is a street rodder as you well know, could work on your cars. Better yet sell the BIG Olds and get yourself a DEUCE. You would be close to JW, DALECARNUT, Bob Ross and Steeldeuce. With a DEUCE you could become the 1st and only card toting female member of ALL DEUCES. With your people attitude and work ethic you could be prez in less than a year. It's considerably less costly to live down here and you are close to a lot of good events. 2 hours to Myrtle Beach,2 hours to Charlotte, 3-4 hours to Gatlinburg-Pigeon Forge-Knoxville, 1/2 a day to Daytona. It is 3-4 hours to Atlanta and 1 and 1/2 hours to Charleston. They have Shem Creek. You just ride up to the docks and they fix seafood fresh off the boat. We also have the best Bar-B-Que around. Our candidate may not apeel to you but you have to admit...the place does. SEE YA !!!

Hi Johnny, my Chevy bumpers were at the chrome platers when the Chevy burned. I had just had the bumper bolts welded on and everything smooth and plated. They have been sitting here next to my computer for 16 months. They are going on Big Olds and should look awesome. The Olds bumpers in my opinion are much to "heavy" for the front of the car. I decided I'm not installing them though till May when Big Olds comes back from Ft Wayne with some of the kustomizing done. No use taking a chance that something might happen to them, the Olds bumpers will work fine till May.

That red '47 Olds convert in the "100 Best" article in the Feb 02 Rod & Custom looks good with Briz bumpers.
By the way JW, Harold said to say hi. His shop is 1/4 mile down the road.

That's my very good buddy Craig Suman from Melborne, FL. He's the one who told me about Project Big Olds while we were in Charoltte together. He then took me to a vendor who knew Gerry Burger and knew Gerry Burger would be seeing Steve Hendrickson, Big Olds Owner, at the SEMA show in Vegas a couple of weeks later. Steve Hendrickson got word that some chick in Detroit wanted his rod so then he e-mailed me. Following? Do I sound like Grant now? LOL
After the Turkey Rod Run I went to Melbourne and spent quite a bit of time going over Craig rod and us decussing what still needed to be done to Big Olds to get it the way I wanted. If it wasn't for Craig's knowledge about Oldsmobiles, I probley wouldn't have bought Big Olds. He helped me come up with a fair price to offer Steve and what price not to exceed so I wouldn't lose my shirt in the end.
By the way, Craig did ALL the work on that Olds himself. He's a very talented guy. It really deserves that honor of 100 best.

I've got the front and rear bumpers off my 34 3w coupe with brackets I'd sell, but would rather trade for "what have you". They're rusty, slightly bent, maybe not what you hoped for, but the fact is, is you fix an old set (straighten and rechrome), you'll probably spend as much (if not more) as you would for a new set of reproductions. Anyway, if you're interested, e-mail me.

In some states its law that you have to run bumpers..PA, I think is one. Don't know why tho, 34 bumpers aren't going to save many lives.

Bob can attest to this,
In PA it's MANDATORY you run a hood, fenders and bumpers. This for some Nats East attendees turns out to be a pain if the PA Po Po dont get their coffee and donuts in time to "calm their guns down". Theres a couple of guys from Fredrick MD and Winchester VA that I hang with at shows around here that wished PA never had this law. They built some of the wildest full blown 100% STREET DRIVEN (I know this to be a fact) pro/drag '23-27 Ford roadster dragsters VA and MD has ever seen.
When's the last time you saw a tagged pro street/drag car thats FULLY 100% driveable of this calibur with all NHRA sanctioned equipment on it running a hood and bumpers?? It would be kinda hard to throw a hood over a 16 or 32 valve DOHC custom built race engine, dont ya think! About the only thing these rides have as far as standard streetable equipment is a cone style muffler connected at the tail end of the custom headers to quiet it down a tad. Other than that it's all drag stuff (roll cage, chutes, wing, juice etc..) One of 'em 3 years ago at York was told to get off of the Friday parade route or else their rides impounded and tickets would be issued for noise, excessive speeding and neglegent driving without questioning.
Ok I can see where they aren't too fond of the noise, but speeding and neglegent driving during a parade?? Was this some sort of high speed parade up and down 30?? Last I saw they crawled around the Fairgrounds at 10 tops!
What really sucks about that law is the fact that EVERY car with no hood no fenders no bumpers etc.. that comes into PA is asking for trouble. Like I said before, I've had friends from VA MD W.VA and OH come to the show in York and get the run around about how they dont have this that or the other.
Somebody needs to get their P's and Q's together and quit givin' us "rules" to live by.

Heard last year they were going to give tickets out and don't know anyone that was hassled.
It was a rumor that has been going on for a few years now.
