Mike- Any other destinations slated for Americruz?
Lincoln is one of my favorite venues for Americruise--not many cities have a 60 block main drag to cruise on. I will be there but it will be nip and tuck whether or not my new car will be done. It might be a good idea to set up some sort of meeting place when the time comes so we can meet one another.

Great! My sister and her husband live in Lincoln and I did my grad work there so it is always like coming home. I lived in David City for 16 years before moving to Illinois in 1989.

I really enjoyed Lincoln, everyone in that town seemed genuinly happy about us beeing there. I'm wondering though, if we as participants might have a voice to an ear with influence to make some changes concerning the parades constant 'stop n go'. I've never seen so many overheated rods in my life in one place. Every stoplight (and there were gazillions of 'em) there would be 50 gallons of water/coolant on the pavement. Although I made it all the way through, I know it was a real "HOT" topic. EVERONE had an opinion, and most were not good.

The police are going to try sometime different this year to elimate this problem of stop and go this year! I don't know what but they control the streets!

I was in LaFayette Ind. last year, and watched the cruise (I didn't have my car) go round 'n round the main drag. The police would let the cars go through the intersections, then stop them every once in a while to let cross traffic through. It seemed to work pretty well.

Maybe I should clarify.. The parade was completely different than the 'cruise' downtown. The parade started around 4:00 'ish at the fairgrounds and wound through something like 12 miles or so of Lincolns main throughfares and two lane suburbia, the 'cruise' was around "O" street in old downtown.

That's a good idea.
I've never been to 'Speedway motors', even though I had the chance last year. What's that like at the museum?
I did however get to talk to Bill (speedy) Smith for a few minutes at... Des Moines?? He may be moving slow, but his memory is sharp!
