Just called to request a stop somewhere in and or around MD next year for R&C Americruise or HRPT and nobody was home. Guess somebody turned the lights out for the weekend.

I'll try Monday first thing.

It's probley not going to get any closer to you then this, for a start AND finish. What are you waiting for? Meet me in Lincoln, NE!!

Dont know about most of you guys but am i seeing right 9 days of bumper to bumper traffic.Wonder how many cars get wrecked in that mess(I DO KNOW IT HAPPENS ,SAW A FEW PIX'S OF THE WRECKED ONES). I ended up in the one they were doing here on the east coast(totally by chance) for about 30 miles going through CT and NY from MA boy what a mess tail gater's, yuppie cars.5.0 mustang kid cars .chevy blazers, what a joke the one here on the east coast was(stopped and had breakfest just to get away from the mess).Talked to a friend and said most do it so they can see if they get there car in Hot Rod mag. I bet the events are fun but a line of cars in a parade dont seem much fun to me. Guess i like to fly and get there and relax for a day or 2. Besides do people have too pay for that?????If so what a scam, but thats hot rod mag for yah.And you guys complain about G.G. and N.S.R.A. i think hot rod mag are the whores of the industry.Dont get all tight this is just and opinion,we all have them. Must be pretty bad if they did not give all there jackets away, cause i got one for free not even knowing what the hell it was for.LMAO..

I've been on a couple Power Tours. One from San Bernardino to Nashville and another from Pontiac MI to San Bernardino. Lost, its nothing like what you said. Those of us that want to cruise together and hang out, do. The rest of the more or less 400 long haulers (those of us that go the full distance) do about the same thing...travel in small groups. Even when I've been right with the Hot Rod Mag van there isn't more than 40 or so cars cruising together. I've met some really good people and made friendships that will last a lifetime. Sure you can drive your car 5 or 6 thousand miles by yourself, or you can do it with a bunch of people who for the most part built their own cars and are driving them cross country and enjoying each other's company. Most of the people I hung with could give a sh*t less about getting their picture in a magazine. It sure isn't for everybody. In fact once in a while you run into somebody that is whining about the way its run or some other crybaby crap. I just stay away from people like that. Its all what you make out of it. There are enough good, everyday people that are excited about cruising cross country in their hotrods to hang with that I don't need to be around the whiners.

Each time I went I came home after 5500+ miles under my belt with enough great memories to last a lifetime. Last year, the trip home was even better than the Power Tour. I spent a lot of time in Utah and Colorado sightseeing and meeting up with internet friends. I took over 550 pictures in all. I'm sure some of you guys that build cars as a business have take this for granted, but there were times when I just let out a big "YEEHAWW!!" and smiled from ear to ear when I realized that I was driving a car that I built from scratch in my own garage and everything was working just exactly the way it was supposed to. Guess ya had to be there...

sorry I don't see it that way,We wene 98 98 00,started 01,we busted BAD last year in Chicago and was going to quit, but no!
friends& people we met,let me tell you.
We stached the car at a friends house inChicago,we were not given a choise, they split up our bags split up the hen and myself, all into different cars and we went on with the tour!
got to meet purplepickup outside a motel we were at.
it's the people you run with.
In 98 we side triped to arches park and had to be in grand junction that night,we did it,but the car & the wife were both strung out when we pulled into the fair grounds,
I am realy sad we have to miss this year as the girl is out of collage & the boy finishes high school,(never liked these kids)
run with a group it's fun,

I'll actually be arriving on the 21st or 22nd of May. I want enough time to go visit "Speedy" and any other kool places around town.

I've got 2 places booked to stay and was wondering if you could tell me which one is closer the the speedway. Both Super 8's, one at 2545 Cornhuskers Highway or 2635 W. "O" St

Thanks :)

Denise,

I the Super 8 on West O street is the closest one to Speedway motors. They are east of there a couple of miles and a couple of blocks north of O street. Easy place to find from where you are staying. The one on Cornhusker Highway is closer to the fair grounds which works better for Americruise.

Thanks Bob, "O" Street it is then. You'll know where to find me now. LOL Will you be able to take some time off work to enjoy the festivities around town while the Tour is there? Maybe we can plan a dinner get together at a local resturant for all SRS members that might be in the area. If you can think of any sites in the area that are a not to be missed thing to do, could you please let me know. Last time I traveled in your direction I was on a mission to get to CO so I didn't do much site seeing on the way. Any suggestions you, Bowtie, or anyone else might come up with will be greatly appreciated. See ya soon.
