for the past week I have been fitting the door glass in my 33 vicky pheaton I have a cheap set of power operators and when the glass is going up it can tilt back and forth. Before I order some heavier duty ones I would like some opinions!!! The glass is in the channels about 5" when all the way up and slides quite smoothly. I looked at some ad's last night in street rodder and saw specialty's unit and ezwiring's. Space inside the door is limited and the glass is 35" long from front to back

ok..the only reason why i inquired about them is because there units can mount as low as 2" between the bottom of window and door..taint to much room in my 29 with almost a 4" chop.. i`ll have to re-look(if thats even a word) over the balls..i`ll be using the billet switches from watsons street works..as long as it works..."know what i mean vern?"

I have fairly long window glass in my Hawk since I removed the vent windows. My windows would rock back and forth when lifted and it was a real pain. I was using a chrsley single arm lift and it wasn't good for this application. I switched to a 88 Cougar window lift and regulater cuz it is a siccor type lift. It gives good suport, and the window doesn't rock any more. Dave

I've heard nothing but great things about Ball's products and are planning on using not only their power window mechanisms but also their door poppers. Gary Ball has always been very friendly and knowledgeable whenever I've stopped by their booth at shows to ask questions.
Little Marine, I do have a question about the billet switches you've just mentioned. Are those the ones that debuted at the Nats in L'ville this past Aug and were in the new product room, along the back wall, right hand side? I saw something like them there, made a note to myself to check further into them cuz I really liked the look of them, then I lost my notes! Are they oblong shaped with an finger indent on one end and a raised cirle on the other? I really want those for Big Olds. I think they'll look great on the door panel near the oval shaped billet door handle.

I've got to agree with JW. I used the same unit that Balls sells but I bought it from Windsor Fabrications because the owner is a friend of mine (Gary Ball and him developed the unit together). They were quite easy to install. I had to do a little engineering on the doors to mount them because I had manual regulators before, but they are adaptable to various situations. They're good strong units with Bosch motors and a lifetime warranty...and no I don't get a commission :-)

Southern Streetrods has a real good unit that I used in my panel. Bolted right in and I had it working great after the window tracks were adjusted right and I went thru 9, count 'em 9 pieces of left door glass (one piece). Figures, my luck I go for the modern wing window delete look, set the tracks in their normal (on cars with wing windows) place, hook it all up run it up once and half way up the front of the glass bowed down towards the ground, the rear came up out of the track, it left the track all together and busted inside the door. After umpteen hours I finally moved the track forward a little towards the front of the door and that solved that. Now it goes up and down like a champ.

I use a GM scissor type window unit. It is a little hard to figure out the geometry to get it to roll up and down evenly but it dosent rock side to side and parts are cheap and available at the nearest "automotive recyceling center". My windows are different hight on each end and with a little trial and error I got them to roll up and down at a angle so they are even with the door sill at the bottom of movement and close all the way at the top of movement.Try it, You'l like it.

Tooltime, I used specialty power on mine with good results!
I took out the chrome channel that keeps the window level. My cabriolet has about a 35" window even with roll up windows the window would rock back and forth.
there set up eliminated that also I lentghened the length of the window that gives it the amount in the channel to keep it straight.
