Has anyone ever sold a car on ebay? All I see are people under bidding or over priced minimums.

You have a point there, but that is usually cheapskates looking for a bargain. I assure you I made the reserve rediculously low for that car. I have quite a few friends who have bought cars happily on ebay. However, this is my first time selling on that site.

It cost a listing fee to sell anything on E-bay. The only thing that's free is to look.

Other than SRS of course, www.streetrodding.com is the best! No fees to sell a car and easy navigation.

There are alot of great sites including the ones mentioned. I got alot of email responce, but nobody serious enough to even come to my shop for a better look and a test drive. Thats why I tried using the Kruse International/Ebay motors auction. I never did this before, I can only hope for good results. Already I can see who the posers are and who is truley interested in it. It`s kinda cool, but much better if it sells.

I think it`s all in what you are selling. Some cars are near impossible to sell. I got alot of responce from my ad there. I`m hoping mine aint one of the impossible ones. I`ve seen pretty much junk sell for outrageous bucks, This car is nowhere near that catagory.

You'd sell if the right one was on the site and lookin in the right place. All I had was idiots that just wanted to talk.
Best of luck Ed!
If ya dont sell by 2nd week in June Gettysburg PA KKOA SLED SCENE EAST is a great spot to attract folks in the Kustom crowd.

Ed, good luck. I advertised my 34 on HotRodHotLine, and got several calls. Most wanted more pictures, and once I sent them, never heard back, or else when I told them where I lived, they backed away. I had it on 2 or 3 other sites and not many inquires. Got a call one night asking if I was interested in selling my 34, so I asked him what site he saw the add. He said he saw the car the last two years at various shows, liked it, and wanted to buy it. I sold it a week later to him. You have a nice car, it will sell.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, the car is smokin! If half of these net heads would just take a look at it in person, I know it would go out the door. Selling way below it`s worth.

Better Watch Out , ED , Sometimes cars get "STOLEN" off Ebay :
Sometimes pictures don't tell the real tale of the condition of a car but it looks like the guy with the 56 Nomad may have set his reserve a little low. Maybe about 10K too low! Depending on what part of the country you live in I guess.

Nomads don`t do much in the northeast, most have rusted badly. Still wish I had mine from the 60`s
So tell me, what fun did that guy have? Drove it for a whole 23 miles then got to look at it in his garage for 22 years? For what? A few dollars?

There was a guy that did that with a '57 t-bird here in town. He actually bought two of them new...drove one and sprayed cosmolene on the other one and parked it in his walk in basement. When he died his wife sold it pretty cheap. She was probably tired of looking at it.

Denise , Keep your top up ! I know it's frustrating ... I think we all agree. I put the Camaro up as a comparision , per se. Apples to Oranges / 80's Camaro vs Full Tilt Custom.
I just wanted to point out what some people MIGHT pay for ...... WHAT ? This Camaro is WAY over priced TO START ... there's no mention of any "movement" on this car ... suppose the guy DID bring it home and park it ? ... and never turned the key again. Every seal and/or gasket has probably rotted long ago. Suppose the fluids hadn't been drained or changed ? Given that , the new owner is looking at a total re-do if he has any hopes of driving it. It ain't like it's a Yenko , it's pretty much a run-of-the-mill car that anyone could have bought in the 80's. "Buy - It - Now" for $30,000 and ED can't get 1/3 of what his car is REALLY worth, THAT'S the comparison, This frustrates me too , PussHead ED is probably ready to explode. WHOA ! - NASTY visual.

I'm wondering how he bought it and never had it titled? In Illinois, I'm sure that it's illegal to buy a car from someone, and not transfer the title to yourself (open title). Wouldn't that be the same for a new car? Just a thought.

Hey Ed,
I've listed many items on ebay, some didn't get any bids until the last minutes, some not until the last couple days. Also, I've found out that there are alot of people that look for 'buy it now' auctions only, but that's another story when you're selling a car. Good luck.

Ed,
I've bought and sold a ton of parts on ebay with no problem.
The first car I tried to sell was my buds T-Bucket. This was one of the nicest buckets I'd ever seen, very classy looking. He put a $10,000 reserve on it.
The second day it was up, some joker from NYC bid over $10,000, and won the bid. He didn't answer emails or phone calls. Got checking into his other ebay transactions, and found it was his MO to bid on every streetrod on ebay, then not follow threw.
Things are better now. They have more safeguards against dead beat bidders.
Good luck. Which I had the $$$. That Ford would be coming north if I did!

I have sold a 34 Chevy and a 27 Ford through streetrodding.com had them on other site too. but the guys that bought them saw it on www.streetrooding.com.. Took about 2 months to sell.
Also on that site it will let you know how many people looked at your ad.
That is ture about people wanting more pictures of your ride, but i think that's on every site. Also where it is located. Had alot of guys interested but was to far away. Some of them wanted me to drive to there city to show them the car. ( like i had nothing better to do).

I've been doing the E-bay thing for years, and never had a problem. However, I never sold anything large, such as a whole car. Most of the cars we sold the past few years were seen in the Auto Roundup, or Roundup Magazine. It's a small paper book distributed every two weeks nationwide. The 40 Ford we sold two years ago generated 125 calls in 3 weeks, all from that little magazine. It's free to place an add, but it takes a month to get in.
