How can I find out a part number for 1947 Ford windshield wiper linkage? I have a set of wiper linkage I bought from a guy last year but I am not certain they are for a 47. I need to compare the number on the part to a know part number.
Newport Eng. told me that 47 wiper towers had a 3/8" dia. post & that 48s had a 5/8" post. The set I have has 5/16" post so I am suspicious of what I have. It fits in the car but I need to know what motor to order to fit the linkage.

I have looked in Carpenter, Obsolete Ford & C&G Early Ford.
None of these carries wiper towers/linkage.

Looks like I may have to go with that high dollar Specialty Power Window setup.

This is what the setup looks like. All one piece.
Numbers are the same on both sides stamped under the towers are two sets of numbers:
82144-1 & 2274286

It looks like same as mine. The 47 had a early mod and a late with very little diff. I'am using the New Port in my car (6 yr's) and it has work great with no problems. I couldn't relate the numbers to anything that I have. When I bought mine the person that I spoke too pointed out the diff between the early/late mod. Are you speaking to New Port I sure they can help.Hope this helps.

fat4rd:
I talked to Newport & they told me that an early 47 had a 3/8" post & the late 47/48s had a 5/8" post. Mine is neither but closer to 5/8" than 3/8".
I tried to get the Newport motor to match up to the linkage yesterday when I was at Parr Automotive & it did not look like it would work.
I hate to order a $180 motor & get stuck with it, if you know what I mean.

By chance, have you tried Bob Drake or Dick Spadaro? Just a thought.
