With the never-ending string re: Goodguys Vs. NSRA, does anyone think there is room for another organization for streetrod/custom car enthusiasts?

How about Life Magazine or the AARP?
If people dont quit the bitchin and BS you will wind up with political dirtbags like Daschle and Conyers getting their vehicle scrap law passed without any organized opposition.
Ever hear of "Divide and Conquer" ?

I gotta agree with you Carl. I know these guys are just messing around but there are serious threats to our hobby and everytime I see one group segregate themselves from the rest of us, I cringe, because as small unorganized groups we don't have any leverage at all when the big hammer comes down. I thought Carps said it real well in the "NSRA Sucks" post on the hamb.

I belong to both KKOA and KOA. Both would be considered "national" organizations. They both put on very nice shows. I went to Burlington, KY., South Bend, IN and Lancaster, OH. All at great, smaller venues, (4H type fairgrounds) In my opinion, these type of shows are nice cuz for the most part, there aren't power parkers, no lawn chairs saving spaces, and there's plenty of cruzn room. They usually have a few "famous" guests, such as Joe Baylon, invertor of Kandy Paints, Norm, (my new boyfriend, LOL LIZ),Gene Winfield, etc. All of which are very approachable at a small venue such as these. I really enjoy sitting down and listening to the "old" guys. A person can really learn alot and their stories from the old days are awesome.
One of the organizations, if not both, has been around before NSRA, which we all know, has been around longer then GG. The older one was started by George Barris to promote Kustoms. John Bailey can elaporate more cuz he's a director and he FORCED me to join cuz he MISTAKENLY thought my Chevy was a Kustom. Yeah, right, a KUSTOM with BILLET. LOL
Anyway, if you've never been to one of their shows, give em a try. It's always nice to have choices of places to cruz to.

I agree. There is an alternative, or rather lots of alternatives. I went to the KKOA show in Biglerville, PA (Lead Scene East). It was different I'll tell you that much, but that's an intended thing. It's more low key, layed back. Also, you can go to independent show like Syracuse. That show had "Nationals " atmosphere all over it, without the "club officials" breathing down your neck. There's also car club shows, like Harrington DE, and Cumberland MD. So, yes, there are alternatives. Everyone is just very narrow minded, thinking you have to follow the views and beliefs of either GG's or NSRA, and that simply isn't true.

So how do you find out about these shows? The websites that I've seen don't list them. They're more towards the GG and NSRA listings.

Bill / others ,
If you study that list provided on Bill's site ... the majority of shows/runs/hootenannys are Central New York by geography ... SO , to answer Big Al , YES there IS room for another "organization" ... BUT , ya might want to think "local". I'm sure pussheadED can and WILL correct me here ... The Syracuse Nats is a product of just that ... Realizing that , ALONE , they had no "UMPH" , local clubs banned together and formed the "organization" that got Syracuse off the ground. And obviously , they had an agenda going in ... and obviously FUN was first and foremost ... No judging / trophys / awards ... just a big car party.
YES , there were problems ... roped off areas/ tent city-lawn chair hobo jungles / etc ... a few things to whine and cry about. FAR TOO FEW TO DAMPEN ANY SPIRIT , unless you just DWELL on that sorta thing. It something there for everyone ... don't take my word for it , ask ANYONE that was there and just went for the fun.

If the directors of NSRA and GG and all of the rest could sit down together along with SEMA, what else could one ask for if they agreeded to agree on essentials of the hobby. Another organization would probably only serve to muddy the waters.......Denise got it right...I've been to some of the "fairground" shows and had a blast 'cause there's usually games to play like the brass ring, jousting,(look out for that one lol) and the best one I've seen was trying to park yur car over a point thats just below a plumbed spot on yur back bumper. This is also an embaressing game for some folks..lol
The only problem I've seen so far at "fairgrounds" is that ya gotta watch where yur walking some times or the carpet in yur car starts to take on a strange odor.
Remember, garbage has an ODOR, flowers have a SCENT, good cooked food has an AROMA....noses smell !!!!lol
Now, who can get these jokers to sit down together and do as good a job as SEMA for looking out for us???
