replacing a TH350 with 700R4

Bought a 90' half ton chevyvan with a 350 c.i. F. inj. and a 4speed automatic in it cheap. Really cheap. Want to put the tranny in my coupe replacing the 3 speed TH350. I'm aware of a few things I'll have to do after researching some SRS archives, (i.e.: trans mount/crossmember, driveshaft length, Gear change, etc.)
I THINK this is a 700R4, not sure. How can I tell positively? What's involved to (electrically/electronically) make this worthwhile? I have no computer on my '34. I'm assumming it'll bolt up to my 82' 350 block.

I Read it word for word. Especially like the O.D. light he wired in along with the brake switch.
He put it in plain english did'nt he? Long live the computer.

Lance ,
I thought "some" folks would find it "juvenile" , but it made an easy read for me. If ya REALLY wanna go for broke ,
google.com - type in "700r4 conversion" ... there's only 1,160 pages of info to sort thru ... YIKES ! ;-)

I don't think it's juvenile, matter-a-fact, the 'keeping it simple,(stupid)' theory seems to work pretty good for my limited abilities.

The discusion here was about the lock ups on the TH series I believe long past. But, TAAAAAADAAAAAAA here is the schematic anywho! The pressure switch is optional, but I would include it.

Steve;
That looks pretty simple. Did I just throw away $70 for the "painless" kit? How come they have you eliminate one pressure switch altogether?
I think we should also mention here, if you are using the non electrical 700R4 , you need to get the proper tv cable/carb backet and get the adjustment on the money or it's bye-bye trans.

Digger

He said he wanted to "get it up", then he said " he's going to bed!?!" Hmmm...
The diagram looks good to me, steve, thanks.

Couper be careful with the TV cable geometry and setup . The 700R4's are reaaallllly sensitive to the TV cable Here's something I found after I played with mine to get it right. http://purplesagetradingpost.com/sumner/sumnerindex.html
Sumner has a bunch of information on 700's
