Wheel Hub dust covers

Last Aug. at the Nationals,I remember seeing some polished or chrome dust covers on a couple cars that did not cover ALL of the area behind the wheel, but maybe 2/3rds of it and had holes drilled that kinda gave it a disc brake sorta look. I'm curious if they're on the market or a homemade deal. The outside edge of them had an 'ever so slight' bevel about 3/4th of an inch. Looked sharp, not gaudy. Anybody seen what I'm talking about? I've been looking in my mags but have'nt been able to find 'em.

Godfather Customs has 'em, universal fit cross drilled fits 14" on up to the new 22" rims, you can get 'em in polished or brushed aluminum $39.50 with tax delivered right to your front door. Best bet if you want to see them before buying either get a TRUCKIN Magazine or SPORT TRUCKS Magazine or visit www.godfathercustoms.com and look for 'em on the website, I doubt you'll see Godfather in any of the rodding books, at least I have yet to see their ad.

I'm gettin' them for my new ride in polished form.

See ya!

Lance, The brand I bought for the 47 Chevy was called Kleen Wheel. They came in sizes. I got the 17 inch for the 17 inch wheels. They were $30 for a set of 2. I got mine in Black cuz I really wanted the wheel to stand out. The chrome look blended into the wheel to much for my taste. It was probley the best $60 I spent on the rod! Boy did it cut down on the amount of cleaning the wheels needed after that!

Off the subject a bit but another great product I had on both the 47 Ford and the 47 Chevy was a "Hood Holder". It's made by a guy in Louisanna and he's advertises in the back of Streetrodder. What it does is allows you to take the springs off the hood therefore the hood can sit alittle nicer on the fenders. It bolts into your existing holes and runs along the inside of the hood. After you open your hood you give it alittle twist and it stays up. (similiar to the old vettes) It's much safer then having a pole hold your hood up, especially when your working in the engine compartment. My only complaint is that it held the hood up really high. I would have liked it about 6-8 inches lower. He makes them specificly for each make and model. They're $89. Not a bad price to get rid of that notorious gap between the hood and fenders on fat fender rods.

Hey Denise, I like the black ones too as well as the polished, I thought I'd check into the ones that don't completely cover the whole backside of the wheel like most of them I've seen. 'Slammin' and 'edroozer' pointed me to some that would work, but maybe my best bet is to either 'redesign' somebody elses product or just make some myself like I want from scratch, seems like that's what alot of us end up doing with 'across the counter stuff' anyway.
This may be one of those ideas I get in my head, think it's such a 'brainstorm', then once it's on the car I stand back and say: "Man, what the hell was I thinkin"? this looks like SH--!, then trash it and start over. (ever been there?)

LOL, Yep, been there, done that. I tried to make a wooden shadow box 2foot by 3 foot to diplay all my Power Tour memorabilia. What a disaster. LOL Not only was I out the cost of materials but my time as well. Finally bought a very nice one made by a professional! It was a learning experience. Just a question though, why don't you want it the size of the wheel? You want to beable to see the edges of it thru the wheel? Don't worry about it holding the heat in from the brake, thats why their perferated. Can you really make 4 of them for less then $60? Counting your time? If you make them, let us know how they turn out.

I think this is one of those situations where a picture's worth a Thous. words. I'm going to go through my developed pictures, see if I can find, then post here, what I'm talking about. I know it'll make sense to you once you see it. This has GOT to be homemade since no one seems to grasp or has seen what I'm talking about. It's purpose is not to keep wheels clean as much as it is to appear to look like a disc brake. Hard to explain.
