I'am looking for any ideas to get oil out of the concrete on my garage floor which has slowly acumulated over the last 3 yrs. also suggestions as to the best coatings to put on a new floor ie urethane, acrylic, along with things to avoid.

I have used miratic acid to clean the oil out of the concrete with great result. As far as painting the floor. Epoxy paints seem to give long lasting service, just add a little sand to the paint so you get a little grip as not to slip on the new floor.

Ed's got the right idea--muratic acid does an excellent job. Check out the UCOATIT company's website at www.ucoatit.com . I have seen their floor coating system, and I was very impressed. I am going to put it down in my garage as soon as my new driveway is installed next summer.

erbssr, my feeling on the oil leak thing is this: ANY HOT ROD WORTH HER SALT WILL "ALWAYS" LEAVE A LITTLE TATOO WHEREVER SHE MAY BE PARKED FOR ANY AMOUNT OF TIME, and that includes my Model A. Rick the 31"A" Man

Can't have any oil leaks on my cars/bikes. I've razzed too many Harley riders over the years (I know, the problems' been fixed). If they see a hint of oil beneath my ride, I'd be dropped in the middle of Sturgis on my Honda.

My car buddies are nortorious for pulling practical jokes and one they love to do is pour alittle oil underneath a unsuspecting buddys rod and then razz him about his "leak".

Sounds like we have common buddys. A bud bought a new harley parked it at the local airport coffee shop. Was bragging about the new no oil leak engine. A couple of guys went out and poured a half quart under the new ride. and dribbled the rest out to the street like it leaked all the way to where he parked it.

Yea but Bill`s car really did leak, at the tune of 2 1/2 quarts an hour. It`s in my shop now for a going over. It will be awsome when I`m done with it.
