Does anyone have a sure fire method for removing the oxidaton from headlamp lenses? I have some fully enclosed headlamps(the kind the bulb screws into the back of them) and they are real "foggy". The replacements are about $300 and I KNOW there's a fix out there - you guys always come up with something! Thanks and have a happy holiday.

If your talking about your late model car/truck with plastic head lites .You need to wet sand the lenses with about 1000 grit than go to 1500 grit and than polish they will be as good as new. If your talking glass i dont know. Mike

Lost is right on this one, I use my Baldor buff wheel for the final polish...carefully as not to burn it.

Help! My headlamp lenses are foggy!??????
Sounds like a personal problem! LMAO!!
Ditto on the sanding, wetsand then buff.
Later on if anybodys interested in seeing some trick headlights I got a friend who took his '38 Chevy lenses ran 3/8 pinstripe tape in a tic tac toe fashion and sandblasted 'em with powder. Once they were done the tape came off and man is it ever kool lookin'!

Just a guess :
Mequiars makes a 2 step plastic polish and cleaner.
AND ....
There is a product called 210 for vinyl windows and flybridge enclosures on boats. It comes in 2 formulations.
One has a mild abrasive the other is a clear oil like polish.

Unfortunately these little jewels are glass ( that's why they're so expensive)

Then I'd go with one of the scratch removal systems they market for windshields.

How can I do it to the inside? All I have is a small hole in the back to get inside the headlamp.

"All I have is a small hole in the back to get inside the headlamp."
? ? ? How would you replace them , should they break ? You can't remove the lens ? DAMN ! , you DO have a Dilema Don't Ya. IF , you can take 'em apart ,AND it really is just oxidation/crud , maybe the scratch remover is a bit severe.
I'd try waterless hand cleaner ( S*** with the SAND in it ) and a scrub brush , first.

I used some industrial type swaps, like Qtips only bigger and longer, with windex to clean the gog out of my H4's. They aren't perfectly clean but function better, and the slight brown haze makes them look as"old" as the truck. I just thought I might try some RainX or maybe one of those products made to keep eyeglasses from fogging up, if it's not just the same thing as RainX.
If they are getting moisture inside are they leaking?
Maybe a drain hole in the bottom and/or a small dessicant bag that will fit through the hole would keep them cleaner.

The front and the back are all sealed except where the bulb assembly screws into the back of the unit. I'll take some of the ideas and try them thanks guys!

Hey Richard, that 210 is awsome stuff, it`s great for vinyl rear windows on convertable tops. People with Jeeps that have soft tops would appreciate that, Keeps the dirt from sticking on them too.

If you have access to a jewlers steamer, this thing works great for cleaning the inside of the lense, use compressed air to dry it, or alot od gauze.
