To those who have or are getting WindowsXP

Let me be the first to tell ya, this Microsoft WindowsXP puts 95 98 and 2000 to shame, Super fast and it works great.

Only problem with it so far is a hacker tried to jump a few (of the very select few that have XP seeing how it's so new) and they succeeded once with a customer, but to prevent that I just heard on the radio Microsoft did up a program to prevent that and you can get it here.

The downloads at the very bottom of the screen.

Just lookin' out for y'all if you have XP. Dont wanna see somebody steal your identity!

Amen to XP being fast 7 stable too. Bill Gates must be slipping to come up with a product that delivers what it promises.

If I would upgrade to XP, how much of my software would I have to upgrade with it or will all my stuff work with XP? What have you who are in the know, found out on this subject? I for one, am tired of the BLUE SCREEN of Win 98.

If you download XP everything exept AOL MSN and Yahoo Messengers are automatically upgraded, If you have those messengers and they dont carry over when you upgrade for some reason, BEFORE you upgrade SAVE your buddy list just in case and when you get it all downloaded download your messengers and paste your buddy lists and your set!

T Minus 8 hours and 24 minutes till party time!!!!

should come to the door ready to rock 'n roll for ya Mike, I know mine did, all I had to do was re-download all my messengers (aol yahoo msn) and I was good to go after that, only thing that you'll need to do is set them up with your screen name and info and you'll be set.

Reminder, your gonna have to visit the sites you have on your bookmarks once you get it set up so everythings working just the way it is now. I dont think theres a way to transfer bookmarks, then again who knows. I'm no genious.

See ya

AOL Buddy List and Address Book are kept at the server. So is Yahoo buddy list. I just got a brand new Dell less then a month ago and did not have to do anything to be up and running except for my favorite place (bookmarks). I saved my favorite places on to a floppy. It one of the reasons I like, and have kept AOL along with my cable modem, cuz if I'm away from my computer I can sign on as a guest on any other computer and have access to my address book. Maybe the other servers do this also, I don't know.

Happy Holidays

XP may be fine if you have a compatible PC. 450MHz plus 256M RAM is entry level. It might work but it sure is a hog.

Ive had zero problems with 98SE. Secret is to download all the patches plus go no farther than IE5.01. I run 98SE in the garage on a 133MHz machine and 64M RAM, this in the basement is a 220MHz with 96M and the one upstairs is 450MHz and 256M. My son also has a 450/256 in his room.
I also use Norton 2001 to keep them all tuned.

Another thing, there are several flavors of XP. The basic home version has several problems recognizing hardware, especially HP. Pro is pricey and still has some hardware recognition problems. Both are one shots that require activation so no more freebie burning copies.
The Corporate Edition does not require activation and is the one to get. Several file sharing sites have it for those with a healthy T1 link..this thing is huge.

I may drive flatheads but I work/live in the high tech world.

Just logged on and found an article from Associated Press about XP. It seems that the FBI did some investigating of XP and found that it is Un-secure in some area's.

Since API won't let me rebroadcast there stuff (copyright) I will insert a small piece that I found.

Microsoft acknowledged that Windows XP suffers from serious problems that allow hackers to steal or destroy a victim's data files across the Internet or implant rogue computer software. The glitches were unusually serious because they allow hackers to seize control of all Windows XP operating system software without requiring a computer user to do anything except connect to the Internet.

I guess there is a program fix at the Microsoft site. You may want to rush right over and get it and install it.
