Engine mounting brackets position.

I am putting a 350 chev engine and turbo 400 transmission in a 36 Ford pickup. I am using a Chassis Eng. trans. mount and TCI weld on engine mounting brackets. What I would like to know is the position of the engine mounting brackets in relationship to the Mustang II crossmember. Thanks for your help in advance.

Keeping in mind this was a few years back (11!), I had the same goodies for setting up my ’35 Roadster and allowed the trans mount to drive the placement front to back, but found it too far forward. The fix was to mod the Chassis Eng. trans. mount to allow the trans to slide back bit so the trans pan still clears the center X-member for service. Then I trimmed the motor mounts to clear my inner box plates and drop the motor so the stock SBC oil pan had about ¾ of an inch clearance to the stock Mustang II cross member and tacked ‘em in. You really need to watch the valve cover/firewall clearance setting things back, but the improvements in center of gravity for a better ride makes it worth the effort.

Have fun building!!
