'53 Chevy Speedometer Gears

Hi, my father has a 1953 Chevy Halfton Pickup, 3100 series. His speedometer hasn't worked for years in it and he's looking for parts for it. Does anyone know of a site that I can find a decent priced speedometer or hopefully the speedometer gears for sale?
Thanks
Adam

Nope, I don't know much about speedo's. There's some forums you might try that are just about trucks. Here's one http://www.classicmotornews.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?s=3d15377f7042ffff;act=SC;c=13 and Chevy Talk http://chevytalk.com/ has a truck forum, but it's down right now for site maintenance. Here's a site for speedo repair http://www.gaugeguys.com/ and here's a list of links to truck parts suppliers that might help http://www.chevytrucks.org/resources/vendors.htm

Are you sure the cable is ok? They are available and don't cost much.

I'm pretty sure he needs the gears. He's taken the speedometer out of the truck and to a shop, and they said the gears are rusted and he needs new ones.

I'll try the websites you mentioned. Thanks for your help,
Adam
